RE: Ground squirrels in Lower Austria

The squirrel in the first picture looks like a quokka- the happiest animals ever! (According to me lol)

I wonder how the animals behave differently over at your place when it comes to relations with humans. I was telling someone the other day that around here, even birds fly off of poles they were resting on when people simply walk on a path close to it. I also suggested it could have something to do with the fact that we hunted them a lot around here, and that they’re probably used to us being more of predator than friend.

You can’t come anywhere close to these guys here. Especially considering how fast they are. Maybe the squirrels around here are not as curious as the ones around yours? Or maybe they just know better than to trust humans:)
