Good day to all guys. I mentioned in my previous article that the winter months are coming. Since it rains a lot in the Aegean during these months, we do not have the opportunity to travel as much as in other seasons. But the thing that I and @bilginhilal love about this season is that we spend more of our time visiting the villages of İzmir. We leave ourselves to nature when we see the sun and have the opportunity.
Herkese iyi günler arkadaşlar. Kış aylarının geldiğini önceki yazımda belirtmiştim. Bu aylarda Ege'de çok yağmur yağdığı için diğer mevsimlerde olduğu kadar gezme fırsatımız olmuyor. Ama bu mevsimin, benim ve @bilginhilal ile sevdiğimiz yanı zamanımızı daha çok İzmir'in köylerini gezmeye ayırıyor olmamız. Kendimizi güneş gördüğümüz ve fırsatımız olduğu zamanlarda doğaya bırakıyoruz.
In this article, I will tell you about a village that we visited twice. This is Ödemiş Birgi Village. This village is about an hour and a half away from the settlement where I live. It is about 15-20 minutes away from the center of Ödemiş.
Bu yazımda sizlere iki kez ziyaret ettiğimiz bir köyden bahsedeceğim. Burası Ödemiş Birgi Köyü. Bu köy benim oturduğum yerleşim yerine yaklaşık bir buçuk saat uzaklıkta. Ödemiş merkeze ise yaklaşık 15-20 dakika uzaklıkta.
To talk about the general lines of the village, it is very, very clean. I hardly saw any garbage or butts on the streets. I thought that they gave importance to cleanliness and art in the village. There were even wooden fish figures on iron couples on the side of the road where I parked the car. The fact that such a view greeted me from the very first minute was enough to make me feel how much this place cares for artistic elements.
Köyün genel hatlarından bahsetmek gerekirse çok ama çok temiz. Ben sokaklarda neredeyse hiç çöp yada izmarit görmedim. Köyde temizliğe ve sanata önem verdiklerini düşündüm. Hatta şöyleki arabayı park ettiğim yolun kenarında demir çiftlerin üzerinde ahşap balık figürleri vardı. Daha ilk dakikadan beni böyle bir manzaranın karşılaması, bende burasının sanatsal öğeleri ne kadar önemsediği izlenimini uyandırmaya yetti.
I saw two aunts chatting and watching the scenery on the bench by the side of the road. When I turned my head to the point they were looking at, I saw green areas. Then I agreed with them that they had chosen a good place to chat.
Yolun kenarında bank üzerinde iki tane teyzenin muhabbet edip manzarayı izlediğini gördüm. Bende onların baktığı noktaya kafamı çevirince yeşil alanları gördüm. Sonra onlara, muhabbet etmek için iyi bir yer seçtikleri konusunda hak verdim.
We started walking up the village. One of the house on the road impressed us. In front of it were flowers, an ivy-covered pine tree, organic products and the Turkish flag. I'm sure this house attracts the attention of all passers-by. When I walked a few more steps on the same street, I saw pine trees. But the trunks of these pines were slightly different from the others. It was decorated with handmade lace, produced in the workshop on the street. It's great that the art has spilled over into the street. ☺️
Köyün yukarısına doğru yürümeye başladık. Yol üzerindeki evin birisi bizi kendine hayran bıraktırdı. Önünde çiçekler, sarmaşık kaplı bir çam ağacı, organik ürünler ve Türk bayrağı vardı. Eminim bu ev yoldan geçen herkesin dikkatini çekiyordur. Aynı sokak üzerinde bir kaç adım daha yürüyünce çam ağaçlarını gördüm. Ama bu çamların gövdeleri diğerlerinden biraz farklıydı. Sokak üzerinde bulunan atölyede üretilen, el emeği dantel ile süslenmişti. Sanatın sokağa taşmış olması çok güzel birşey. ☺️
We continued on towards the village square. Almost all of the structures we encountered were made of small stones. Aesthetically it looked very nice. What is the living standard of these houses? In addition, the figures of the entrance doors of all of them were different.
Köy meydanına doğru ilerlemeye devam ettik. Karşımıza çıkan yapıların hemen hemen tamamı küçük taşlardan yapılmıştı. Estetik olarak çok güzel görünüyordu. Acaba bu evlerin yaşam standardı nasıldır? Ayrıca hepsinin giriş kapılarının figürleri bambaşkaydı.
When we came to the village square, we came across Ummu Sultan Tomb in the middle of the road. Since I love historical textures, we got close right away. As always, I read the information note first. Even though we couldn't get in because the door was locked, I'm not too upset. Because the windows were open, it was easy to see inside. On the east side of the tomb, there was a statue of Gazi Umur Bey, an important person for the Aegean Region and Izmir. I just read the information text. As a result, the anchor next to the statue gained meaning. I learned that Gazi Umur Bey was a sailor. He even died in a naval battle himself.
Köy meydanına geldiğimizde yolun tam ortasında, Ümmü Sultan Türbesi ile karşılaştık. Tarihi dokuları sevdiğim için hemen yaklaştık. Her zaman ki gibi ilk olarak bilgi notunu okudum. Kapısının kilitli olduğu için içeriye girememiş olsak da çok üzülmüyorum. Çünkü pencereler açık olduğu için rahatlıkla içerisi görünüyordu. Türbenin doğu tarafında, Ege Bölgesi ve İzmir için önemli bir kişi olan Gazi Umur Bey'in heykeli vardı. Bilgi metnini hemen okudum. Netice olarak heykelin yanında bulunan çapa anlam kazandı. Gazi Umur Bey'in denizci olduğunu öğrendim. Hatta kendisi bir deniz muharebe şehit olmuş.
While continuing our tour, I was sad to see that the restoration process of the historical mosque in the center is still going on. We haven't had a chance to visit for two years. The organic product sellers on the street were still standing in the same places.
Gezimize devam ederken merkezde bulunan tarihi caminin hala restorasyon sürecinin devam ettiğini görünce üzüldüm. İkidir ziyaret şansımız olmadı. Sokak üzerinde bulunan organik ürün satıcıları hala aynı yerlerinde duruyordu.
We sat in a nearby place and drank our tea and coffee and rested for a few minutes. After collecting our energy, we left ourselves to the streets again. We did not have the chance to visit many places as we had to go elsewhere. But the two-hour time we spent was very nice for me and my wife @bilginhilal.
Yakınlarda bulunan bir mekanda oturup çayımızı ve kahvemizi içip bir kaç dakika dinlendik. Enerjimizi topladıktan sonra tekrar sokaklara bıraktık kendimizi. Başka bir yere gitmemiz gerektiği için bir çok yere uğrama şansımız olmadı. Ama geçirmiş olduğumuz iki saatlik süre ben ve eşim @bilginhilal için çok güzeldi.
Before saying goodbye to you, let me give you the most important information about this village. Birgi was added to the World Heritage Tentative List by UNESCO in 2012. Thank you for taking the time for me. 🖐🏼🙃
