First of all, warm greetings to the community. I must confess that when I saw the title of the contest, the movie that came to my head and the one I'm writing about now, was “Pi Orden en el caos”.
This is a movie from the year 1998, and in fact it is the first feature film by director Darren Aronofsky, the same one who made the movie "The Fountain of Life”. Now, when I talk about the movie, Pi Order in Chaos, I know I'm talking about a little-known movie, because although it's a science fiction movie, it can also be classified as an experimental movie, where philosophical, sociological and even religious aspects are touched, but from a very particular point of view.
An overview of the film:
Pi order in chaos, tells us the life of a young mathematician, who is a genius. In fact, the film tells that he was published for the first time at the age of 16 and in addition to being a mathematician, he also obtained a philosophy degree at the age of 20.
The protagonist, who is called Maximillian Cohen and is starred by the actor, Sean Gullette, who excellently represents a young Jewish mathematician, lonely, with serious problems of migraine, paranoia and who is medicated to limit the anxiety and migraine attacks that give him. Attacks, causing them to see strange visions in the movie. But these visions, besides being strange, are totally full of a symbolism that, when understood, gives a greater meaning to the film.
The protagonist, bases his life and the understanding of the world on mathematics, and in fact has 3 principles that are:
Mathematics is the language of nature.
Everything that surrounds man can be represented and understood, according to the language of mathematics.
As everything is represented by mathematical language, there are patterns in nature.
The protagonist of the film, has the hypothesis that, just like in nature, the stock market also has a pattern that, when discovered, will allow him to know when the stock market rises or falls.
For this reason, the protagonist is contacted by people close to the stock exchange who are interested in his research, and he is also contacted by an Orthodox Jewish group, which is looking for a 216-digit number, which hides the true name of God.
The protagonist, who lives isolated in a small apartment, full of computers and, where the windows closed and sealed with paper, increasing the level of isolation of the protagonist, who demonstrates his paranoia, when he sees the door of the house that has 6 locks.

Scenes I liked:
The movie has several scenes that I really liked, since they have a rather strong symbolic relevance, because the protagonist, in several discussions with his teacher and friend, is motivated to move away partly from reasoning and is motivated to look for his intuition.
I remember four scenes a lot, the first one, of them, is when the protagonist is obsessed with getting his research and understanding the meaning of the 216 digits that a bug gives him that provokes its formula on the computer.
1- In this scene, he goes on a train, they have some visions and he falls asleep, when he wakes up, he gets off the station and goes to the seashore, hay washes his face with salt water, and when he starts thinking about the number problem again, he sees a lady with a metal detector, looking for treasures.
At those moments, the image focuses on the lady, who discovers an object on the seashore, picks it up in her hand, observes it, puts on a happy face and, subsequently, leaves it in its same place on the seashore and retires. The intrigued protagonist goes to see the object that the lady saw and sees that it is a snail shell, he takes it, and when he sees in it he realizes the natural patterns that are formed in a kind of circumference, and realizes that from that pattern that he links, with the 216 digits found by his formula, and sees that from there the pattern of hurricanes, of sea and air currents is born, as well as the shape of the milky way and identifies other natural patterns.
And for me, from the symbolic point of view, the scene represents the search for truth, and the encounter of it through intuition and experience, and not only through the use of reason.
2- There is another scene, where Maximillian, the protagonist, is talking to his teacher, and the teacher tells him that he should rest and not obsess, and then gives him as an example of the world and the universe, a board of the game Go and explains to him, that the universe and the world is like the board without the tiles, ordered, structured, organized.
And then he tells her, that when the players place the game tiles, the world looks in chaos and disorderly. But in reality, the world and the universe looks like this according to the vision of the players, since order is permanently present in the midst of chaos, but the player does not see it and does not understand it, because he only sees the superficial, which are the stones in the game, which does not allow him to see the background reality. Scene that has a great philosophical and spiritual value.
3- There is a scene, where Maximillian talks to a Rabbi, who asks for the numbers, the 216 digits, and at the end tells him a legend, and ends up telling the protagonist, that with those numbers, the true name of God will be known and, therefore, the messianic era will be reached faster.
Maximillian, refuses to give the number, and tells him that the real value is not in the number, but in understanding what is between each number, and that now he was understanding. Symbolically, the scene reflects, the search and the knowledge of oneself through intuition.
4-In some of the final scenes, Maximillian, has a huge crisis, and in it he decides not to take the medications, or that causes a worse crisis, where he ends up destroying the computer and his research process, later other scenes are seen that reflect the death of the protagonist, with gloomy backgrounds. To end up in a scene, with a white background and images of tree leaves, which would mean his personal rebirth.
The film ends, with a Maximillian freed from paranoia and his complexes, sitting in a park, enjoying nature and sharing with a girl.
What do I think about the movie.
For me it is a very interesting film, which as I said earlier, has philosophical, sociological, religious and scientific components.
It tells us a struggle between rationalistic vision and intuition, shows us different ways of seeing the world and gives us a number of symbolic elements, which will greatly enrich those who understand them.
For many people it will not be an easy movie, which is logical, since it is experimental cinema. But I personally liked it and I would recommend watching it.

Concurso CineTV, # 113: Pi, el orden del caos.
Antes que nada, cordiales saludos a la comunidad. Debo confesar que cuando vi el título del concurso, la película que vino a mi cabeza y de la que ahora escribo, fue “Pi Orden en el caos”.
Esta es una película del año 1998, y de hecho es el primer largometraje del director Darren Aronofsky, el mismo que hizo la película “La Fuente de la Vida”. Ahora bien, cuando hablo de la película, Pi Orden en el caos, sé que hablo de una película poco conocida, ya que aunque es una película de ciencia ficción, también puede ser catalogada, como una película experimental, donde se tocan aspectos filosóficos, sociológicos y hasta religiosos, pero desde un punto de vista muy particular.
Una visión general de la película:
Pi orden en el caos, nos narra la vida de un joven matemático, que es un genio. De hecho, la película narra que lo publicaron por primera vez a los 16 años y además de matemático, obtuvo también el grado de filosofía a los 20 años.
El protagonista, que se llama Maximillian Cohen y está protagonizado por el actor, Sean Gullette, que representa de manera excelente a un joven matemático judío, solitario, con problemas graves de migraña, paranoia y que está medicado para limitar los ataques de ansiedad y de migraña que le dan. Ataques, que les hacen ver visiones extrañas en la película. Pero esas visiones, además de ser extrañas, están totalmente llenas de un simbolismo que, al entenderlo, le da un mayor significado a la película.
El protagonista, basa su vida y el entendimiento del mundo en las matemáticas, y de hecho tiene 3 principios que son:
·Las matemáticas son el lenguaje de la naturaleza.
·Todo lo que rodea al hombre puede ser representado y entendido, según el lenguaje de las matemáticas.
·Al todo ser representado por el lenguaje matemático, hay patrones en la naturaleza.
El protagonista de la película, tiene la hipótesis de que, al igual que en la naturaleza, la bolsa de valores, también tiene un patrón que, al ser descubierto, le permitirá, saber cuándo sube o cae, el mercado de valores.
Por esta razón, el protagonista es contactado por gente cercana a la bolsa de valores que está interesada en su investigación, y también es contactado por un grupo ortodoxo judío, que está buscando un número de 216 dígitos, que oculta el verdadero nombre de Dios.
El protagonista, que vive aislado en un apartamento pequeño, lleno de computadoras y, donde las ventanas cerradas y selladas con papel, aumentando el nivel de aislamiento del protagonista, que demuestra su paranoia, cuando se ve la puerta de la casa que tiene 6 cerraduras.

Escenas que me gustaron:
La película tiene varias escenas que me gustaron mucho, ya que tienen una relevancia simbólica bastante fuerte, debido a que el protagonista, en varias discusiones con su profesor y amigo, es motivado a alejarse en parte del raciocinio y es motivado a buscar su intuición.
Yo recuero mucho cuatro escenas, la primera, de ellas, es cuando el protagonista está obsesionado con conseguir su investigación y entender el significado de los 216 dígitos que le da un bug que provoca su fórmula en la computadora.
1- En esta escena, él va en un tren, tienen unas visiones y se queda dormido, al despertar, baja de la estación y va hasta la orilla del mar, hay se lava la cara con agua salada, y cuando se pone de nuevo a pensar en el problema del número, él ve a una señora con un detector de metales, buscando tesoros.
En esos momentos, la imagen se centra en la señora, que descubre un objeto en la orilla del mar, lo levanta en su mano, lo observa, coloca cara de alegría y, posteriormente, lo deja en su mismo sitio a la orilla del mar y se retira. El protagonista intrigado va a ver el objeto que vio la señora y ve que es un caparazón de caracol, lo toma, y al ver en él se da cuenta de los patrones naturales que se forman en una suerte circunferencia, y se da cuenta de que de ese patrón que él vincula, con los 216 dígitos encontrados por su fórmula, y ve que de ahí nace el patrón de los huracanes, de las corrientes marinas y aéreas, al igual que la forma de la vía láctea e identifica otros patrones naturales.
Y para mí, desde el punto de vista simbólico, la escena, representa la búsqueda de la verdad, y el encuentro de la misma a través de la intuición y de la experiencia, y no solo a través del uso de la razón.
2- Hay otra escena, donde Maximillian, el protagonista, está hablando con su profesor, y el profesor le dice que él debe descansar y no obsesionarse, y después le pone como ejemplo del mundo y del universo, un tablero del juego Go y le explica, que el universo y el mundo es como el tablero sin las fichas, ordenado, estructurado, organizado.
Y después le dice, que cuando colocan los jugadores las fichas del juego, el mundo se ve en caos y desordenado. Pero en realidad, el mundo y el universo se ve así según la visión de los jugadores, dado que el orden está presente permanentemente en medio del caos, pero el jugador no lo ve y no le entiende, debido a que solo ve lo superficial, que son las piedras en el juego, lo que no le permite ver la realidad de fondo. Escena que tiene un gran valor filosófico y espiritual.
3- Hay una escena, donde Maximillian habla con un Rabí, que le pide los números, los 216 dígitos, y al final le cuenta una leyenda, y termina diciendo al protagonista, que con esos números, se sabrá el verdadero nombre de Dios y, por lo tanto, se llegará más rápido a la era mesiánica.
Maximillian, se niega a dar el número, y le dice que el verdadero valor no está en el número, sino en entender lo que hay entre cada número, y que ahora él estaba entendiendo. Simbólicamente, la escena refleja, la búsqueda y el conocimiento de uno mismo a través de la intuición.
4-En algunas de las escenas finales, Maximillian, tiene una enorme crisis, y en ella decide no tomar los medicamentos, o que le provoca una crisis peor, donde termina destruyendo la computadora y su proceso de investigación, posteriormente se ven otras escenas que reflejan la muerte del protagonista, con fondos lúgubres. Para terminar en una escena, con fondo de color blanco e imágenes de hojas de árboles, lo que significaría su renacimiento personal.
La película termina, con un Maximillian liberado de la paranoia y de sus complejos, sentado en un parque, disfrutando de la naturaleza y compartiendo con una niña.
Qué pienso de la película.
Para mí es una película muy interesante, que como dije anteriormente, tiene componentes filosóficos, sociológicos, religiosos y científicos.
Nos narra una lucha, entre la visión racionalista y la intuición, nos muestra diferentes formas de ver el mundo y nos da una cantidad de elementos simbólicos, que van a enriquecer mucho a quienes los entiendan.
Para muchas personas no será una película fácil, lo que es lógico, ya que es cine experimental. Pero a mí en lo personal me gustó y recomendaría verla.

Es una película que se realizó con 60 mil dólares,los cuales se obtuvieron a través de ventas de bonos y apoyos de los conocidos.
Es una película realizada a 16 milímetros, en color blanco y negro de alto contraste.
La película recaudó más de tres millones doscientos mil dólares en taquilla.
