Hi food buddies here in hive!
I used to make soup with mussels but today I will share this savory seafood recipe "baked cheesy mussels". This is my first time making it and it was a success.
Here's what we need:
•1kg Fresh Mussels
•Water for boiling
•1/2 Cup Salted Butter
•7-8 Cloves Garlic, minced
•1/2 teaspoon salt (if using an unsalted butter)
•1- 1 1/2 Cup Grated Cheese (much better if using easy-melt cheese)
• 1/8 Cup Breadcrumbs
Let's get started.
Clean mussels shell and wash them.
Boil the mussels until the shell opens, drain and let it cool.
Remove half of the shell, keep the one where the meat is attached. Throw the empty shells and those mussels which is still close to avoid food poisoning.
Melt the butter over low heat to prevent it from burning.
Saute garlic until lightly brown, you can also season it now with iodized salt if you're using unsalted butter.Turn off the heat.
Assemble the mussels in baking tray/pan.
Using a spoon, scoop some butter-garlic mixture and pour it over the mussels one by one.
Put some grated cheese over each mussels.
Sprinkle some breadcrumbs at the top to add crunchiness after baking it. Bake it for 10-12 minutes at 180°C.
Let it set for at least 3 minutes before serving to prevent burning of our tongue.
Let's eat!
I really like this butter-garlic taste and it's aroma is so appetizing. We eat this with steam rice and this recipe really ruin my diet because I scoop another serving of rice. I will be adding this to the list of my favorites dishes.
