Delicious Raw Vegan Pizza Recipe (Fat-Free)

Steemit_Pizza.jpg

Who doesn’t love pizza, right? What I personally don’t love is the heavy feeling afterwards. But wait – isn’t there a way to make conventional pizza healthier?

Absolutely, and making a raw vegan version is a great place to start. Yet a lot of raw vegan versions still have quite a lot of nuts and seeds in there which usually doesn’t fit into my low-fat way of eating. Therefore I decided to create my own raw vegan pizza base – free of added fats, rich in natural flavours and full of the healthy stuff.

We don’t have to miss our favourite dishes when we switch to a healthy raw vegan lifestyle – we just have to find great recipes to make more vibrant versions.

Raw Vegan Pizza Base

(for 1 pizza base)

  • 1 zucchini (220g / 7.8oz)
  • 1 tomato (100g / 3.5oz)
  • 2 carrots (150g / 5.3oz)
  • 2 tbsp dried tomato (5g / 0.2oz)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 4 tbsp psyllium husk

  1. Blend everything up.

  2. Spread the mixture onto a silicon dehydrator sheet, about 25cm (10 inches) in width.

  3. Put the tray into the dehydrator at 46°C (115° Fahrenheit). After about 4 hours you can flip the pizza base to make sure it dries consistently. Check the base over time and turn the tray back to front to ensure that one side doesn’t dry more than the other. After about 8 hours in the dehydrator the base should be ready.

  4. For the marinara, you can use the Tomato-Basil Sauce from my ebook Raw Vegan Abundance – simply cut the sauce recipe in half for this.

  5. For the toppings, go for whatever you feel like. I sliced up marinated mushrooms, bell pepper, tomato, zucchini and dehydrated all those ingredients beforehand for 1 hr to make them a bit softer and give it a more authentic pizza feeling.

By the way, this recipe is not just great for a pizza base, you can also make it a bit thinner and spread it out over the whole dehydrator sheet about 35cm width (14 inches) to make a raw vegan wrap base. When ready, simply fill it with leafy greens and some veggies, add a creamy sauce and roll it up.

I hope you are gonna love this recipe as much as I do.

Have a wonderful day!
