Dinner at Kalem by Zak restaurant - Novi Sad, Serbia

Hello and welcome to another restaurant review/food post. This time I am sharing this week's visit to one of the nicest restaurants in Novi Sad called Kalem by Zak that is part of Pupin Hotel.

This is what the upstairs of the restaurant looks like. We were pretty much the only ones at this area which was amazing as the music wasn't loud so it was perfect for a nice dinner date and comfortable conversation. The table we were sitting at also had a nice window view but I didn't take any photos. Maybe next time... :)

We started off with a bottle of white wine and an appetizer but I also don't have any photos of those. At first I wasn't planning to take any photos but later I changed my mind, haha. Anyways, for the main dishes we decided to get two and share them. Our choices were duck breasts in a Marsala sauce with celery puree (on the left) and veal fillet medallions with goose liver in raspberry sauce (on the right). Both dishes were very tasty, sauces definitely give the meat such a nice flavor and even though I hardly ever eat these meats, I really enjoyed this dinner.

I even had some room left for a dessert so I went for nougat cake with raspberry sauce. The waiter was nice enough to bring two dessert spoons thinking we were going to share but my date just tried this cake and I finished the rest, haha. Sometimes I feel like I want something sweet after a meal but having something too sweet/heavy isn't the best choice for me so this cake was perfect as it was able to satisfy my dessert craving but it wasn't too sweet. Definitely happy with this choice!

Overall I would give this place a high rating, service was amazing, our waiter was very polite and friendly, the restaurant itself is has a great ambiance for dinner dates and I would say business dinners as well or just any other occasion really. Food is amazing, starting from the appetizer to the main meals and desserts. Wine selection is also pretty great. It's definitely a fancy place and more expensive than an average restaurant in Novi Sad.

Thank you for reading, I wish you all a wonderful day! :)
