Homemade yummy pâté

When my friends come to visit me, I never know what to serve them beside a nice glass of wine or any other drink. I wanted to make something different, and I’ve prepared a homemade pâté on toasted bread. They definitely enjoyed spreading it on the bread, and they were even more enjoying eating it !

Ingredients:

  • 350g livers (I used veal liver)
  • 150g chicken breast
  • 30g butter
  • 1 normal size onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 0,5 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 pinches of ground pepper
  • 0,25 teaspoon of thyme
  • 3 pinches of nutmeg
  • 0,5 dl sweet cream
  • 30 ml of brandy
  • olive oil

Cut the chicken breast and liver into small pieces.

In a pan slowly melt the butter. Add the chopped onions and roast them for a few minutes.

Then add livers, cut into pieces.

When livers are browned on all sides, add garlic, nutmeg, thyme and pepper. Roast for a few minutes again, stirring all the time.

In the meantime, in another pan roast the pieces of the chicken breasts on olive oil for a few minutes until they are cooked.

Place the roasted liver and chicken in a large bowl and stir them together. Add the sweet cream and the brandy. Using a hand mixer, blend all ingredients into a spreadable pâté.

Transfer the pâté to a small bowl, lightly pat and flatten the top, then cover with food foil or malted butter. Place in the fridge to chill.

You can prepare small bites before the guest arrive or leave the pâté on a plate and serve it with some toast.
