I personally don’t like sweets but once in a while I like to indulge myself in something sweet. From chocolate to cakes and cookies, they’re my go to treat especially when I feel like I need a kick of sugar rush and motivation. Obviously, coffee is included in the mix, as it’s something I prefer than tea when it comes to cake pairing.

Recently, while trying to find a place where they serve a mix of the two, I found a nice place called Cold N Brew. From google reviews, people mention of the cakes and their various selections of Mille Crêpes, a layered cake from crepe with pastry cream filling.I’ve been seeing the place for quite sometime and was curious as it’s not too far from my place. So, after years I finally went there. As I was already googling the reviews, many mentioned that the attendant would not be nice and friendly. I was happy to know that cause I don’t like overly smiley and friendly place, they creep me out. Although overly rude isn’t nice either but for a cafe place, I was expecting just aloof attendant and that’s acceptable to me.

From the front yard, the place looks quite inviting. It has the monochromatic gray and it was packed with cars. But I was personally surprised when I got inside and the place was rather empty. Inside the cafe there’ s a massive open bar that was so inviting. If I have a billion dollar spare, I would build something like that. The bar is huge enough to accommodate around 15 people in seats. In this place they have various seating options from indoor to outdoor. Most of them are empty and though I was going to sit in the single chair, it wasn’t as comfortable as the round table that was for more than 4 person. The place is also perfect for work from cafe as I saw many do that in the place and with their laptop in front of their face. Although during day time when it’s 32 C outside, you can’t really feel the Air Con.

I wasn’t really expecting much for the coffee since again it’s quite difficult to please me when it comes to coffee. But I came for the cake, so I ended up getting their Oreo Mille Crêpes and wasn’t hoping much for the coffee. Among all the variant on the display it caught my attention the most and though I am a fan of cheese cake, I decided for the day, I’d get something extra chocolaty and sweet.To pair that, I chose Crème brûlée coffee which usually has quite savory taste to it. It’s still sweet but very light and often with dash of vanilla to it.

Since the place is self-service, I was given a number and the beeping machine. It took about 10 minutes before mine came. When I first taste it, I was surprised that it wasn’t as sweet as I would expect. For those who likes sweeet, it might not be up to par but to me, it was just perfect. It was not overpowering sweet and just the way I like it to be.

The same goes for their coffee that I didn’t expect would be great. I mean, it was not too sweet either and the coffee was good. Although again it irks me when they’re serving it on a plastic cup. But since I only saw 1 barista, it makes sense that they’re serving it on a plastic cup. It’s way easier to clean as well. In the end, I was so happy with the cake. They’re also pretty affordable for the price offered. For once a year treat, it’s definitely worth it.

This place reminds me that there are so many places that I used to see on my way home and the gym that I haven’t checked out. For some reason, I have that tendency to just go to the same place cause it’s quite familiar and also I don’t gamble with the taste. Maybe once in a blue moon, I ventured like this cause I get tired being cooped up inside my room.

And perhaps that’s the whole experience it self. Not everyday will be good but going outside is definitely a first step for me to get back into civilization :D
