Since I’ve been to quite a few of street food and food scene in Bangkok, this one had the similar style with quite a few vendors mostly offering snacks and light bites. There were some Thai snacks like coconut juice as well as sticky mango rice but that was it. The rest are just common street food snacks that you can find on any given day.
Although what caught my attention the most was the pork section. The pork section was quite small but it has one of the things I miss the most, crispy pork belly. Back in Thailand, these thing are plenty and easy to find. They are always displayed fresh and makes me wonder how much would it cost to buy the whole thing. But I never got to do that.
At that pork section, I decided to buy Nasi Campur. It’s basically mixed rice with assorted side dishes. So, I happen to get assorted pork with egg and hainanese rice. They tasted pretty decent and I honestly wasn’t expecting that. Usually when it comes to pork menu in this province, it felt like gambling.
The only provinces in the country where I love the pork menu is either Semarang or Bali. Pork is also quite expensive here because that Nasi Campur was around $3.5 for a meal at a humble stall, usually it can be around $1 and even less but pork here is often priced that much. Even the dimsum pork I got was around $1.9 a lot more expensive than if it were chicken or shrimp meat. But I was just so happy that it’s been a while since I ate pork and can find it again. If there’s a thing I equally love as much as coffee, that would be pork and especially crispy pork belly.
