Traditional Wood Fire Cooking #14: Sinigang na Salmon

About this video

This video showcases Traditional Filipino Home Cooking using a wood fire on a clay stove. The dish featured in this video is called "Sinigang na Salmon".It is one of the most popular dishes in our country. Sinigang is a very versatile dish, you can use meat, chicken, shrimp, and fish to cook sinigang. There are also numerous vegetables that we like to add to our sinigang like Snow Cabbage, Mustard, Green Pepper, Sweet Potato Leaves, and Water Spinach. Sinigang is famous for being a sour dish. Cooking a meat sinigang is slightly different since root crop vegetables are added as opposed to fish sinigang where vegetable leaves are only the vegetables added. These are the most common fishes that we use in a fish sinigang: Blue Scad Mackerel, Salmon, Tilapia, and Milk Fish (Milk Fish is my all-time favorite).

Interesting fact

Sinigang is commonly cooked and served during lunchtime (summer or rainy days). On rainy days sinigang is more frequently cooked because of the cold weather.
