I recently received some developed film back in the mail. A lot of it was not quite what I was expecting, but some of it turned out pretty spectacularly. In particular, the film from the Graflex 22 - my most recent addition - were rather fun.
I picked this camera up during a recent visit to Rehoboth Beach; found in an antique store it quickly became mine.
The camera is a Twin Reflex Camera, meaning that there are two lenses; one that contains the shutter to expose the film to light, and the other which allows the photographer to use the viewfinder. Unlike some other, less expensive, TLR cameras, the Graflex 22 allows the photographer to also see the focal point through the viewfinder, so focusing becomes less of a guess and more of an art.
I brought the camera to Greenbank Mill in Delaware and it was a hit with a lot of passerby. It was fun to use, though the shutter release on the front of the camera near the bottom was a little clunky to use. I was often concerned about camera shake, but it appeared to not be much of a concern.
I did remove some colour cast from the scanned photos; otherwise there was no touchup performed on these at all.
This old millstone used to mill grain. Obviously it does not anymore, but it's awesome that it still exists.
The farm is right beside an old steam engine site which I walked over to (it's literally right across the street). I was hoping the train itself would come by, but I was out of luck. I'll need to get it's schedule and go back when I know it will be there.
This is perhaps my favourite of the bunch. I'm really happy with how this double exposure turned out; this is a type of photography that one cannot do digitally without combining different images.
My other film cameras:
- Kodak Duaflex II
- Kodak Tourist
- Agfa B2 Cadet
- Agfa Pioneer
- Brownie Special Six-16
- Kodak Flashmite 20
