Good evening everybody. It has been a week now since the launch of the last man standing competition and with not long before the premiership season starts up again I want to get as many people as possible signed up before the season begins. When the season begins then that is it , we are locked in so I don't want all yee all moaning and whining at me like @deniskj did last year as you had a whole month to sign up to this competition. And this competition is free also. Free for everyone so why wouldn't you sign up?? All I need is a few football loving witness and we are going global with this. The worst that could happen is you get knocked out in the first round and this happens the best of us. So we have 7 signup so far and about that "Saved the Date" so to speak so they can study the form and injury list before they give me their selection. This makes alot of sense actually but the making and breaking of a Last Man Standing Competition is indeed if you think too much about things. Some of you legends are after giving me their selection. Thank you for the 7 brave souls who are already locked in.

@ablaze my Irish pal will always have my back but he has picked his own team first off which may be bad luck. The only bet my dad ever placed was the Spurs(his own team) to win in the 1987 FA Cup final against Coventry. They lost 3-2 and he was devastated and he never heard the end of it from his mates. The man is 84 now and the bet was even mentioned in the pub last week when he walked in. He told me never to back my own team as he is withered from the one bet he placed back in 1987.

Now I'm gonna do something annoying and tag everyone that entered the last Last Man Standing so they are aware what is happening. This is the last time I will do this so if you are tagged and are disgruntled about it then go shit in your hat. I don't care.

Rules of the Competition

This competition is an English Premier League Football Competition. Now many of you on Hive do not know the difference between a rugby ball and a football. This is OK. We have had many winners in the past that didn't could not tell a Tottenham Hotspurs from a Boston Red Sox. Some say the less you know about football the better.

1.Participants are asked to pick a team that they believe will win in a particular round of games. The first round of games will commence on Gameweek 1 on the 11th August 2023. See below the games on that date. If you want to enter just comment below and pick a team. It is that simple.

2.If the chosen team wins their match, the participant advances to the next round. If the team loses or draws, the participant is eliminated from the competition. A results post will be published straight after teh round of fixtures and we will post up the fixtures for next round.

3.Now here is the fun part!! Once a participant has chosen a team, they cannot choose that same team again for the remainder of the competition. This rule encourages strategic thinking, as players must consider not just the current round, but future rounds as well.

4.The game continues until there is only one participant left, hence the "Last Man Standing". This participant is declared the winner.

5.If all remaining participants are eliminated in the same round, then the game rolls over to the next week where there is eventually one winner.

Strategy

Now this competition is great fun especially when there is strategy involved in winning your games. Some players plot 6 weeks ahead. They go for the weak teams first so they have the stronger teams to pick later on in the competition. This is the reason some of the Hive FPL experts get knocked out early. But as Mike Tyson said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face"
My sister for example knows nothing about football and she picked the top teams and made it through to the final and won 5k with a major betting firm.
Now there is normally an upset during one week where everybody picks a Man City or a Liverpool (who are the top teams) against a Burnley or an Arsenal (the bottom teams 😉). A shock upset leads to half the field exiting during that week. This is called a major bloodbath so it will be interesting to see when this takes place this year.
