Yesterday morning we had another .10" of rain in the gauge and a nice coolness to the air. I went out to the greenhouse to to check on things and as I stepped in I saw my monster spider sitting in the opening to its den. It has been eating super well and has a quite large web complex. So many bugs get stuck inside that it has ample food available at all times.
A bit after 9:30 the boys and I went over to get the next 3 bales of hay. They had a blast clambering around the hay bales and before long I had the bales loaded and we were on our way back home.
I had no clue if it would work but there was a old broken stump to bushes and it was still super strong when I kicked it. I figured it was worth a shot so I hooked the bale to it and to my surprise it popped right off the back of the trailer.
It was a massive help to drop the bale in the pen as it meant I didn't have to roll it in by hand.
The next bale got tipped like normal, then the other bale rolled out of the truck and off the trailer.
I got the cage around the bale and the animals were soon buried in the bale.
It was handy to have the trailer hooked up still so I got the barrels loaded and ready for the big grain run I have done this morning.
I eventually got to the picking but there was minimal cucumbers and squash.
I got the two bales covered with the pallet covers then the other hay tarp piece over them.
The tomatoes gave me 6 pounds which I still need to get into a paper bag.
Then I finished digging the row of red potatoes. They gave me 17.5 pounds and a total of 74 pounds from the 50 foot row. They got washed off on the deck then separated to the milk crates by size.
It was about 5:30 and @stryeyz had gotten home from work so we all loaded up and headed north to the high school for the pregame and part of the varsity game. They had pizza for everyone and wee sat on the hill and ate while the boys found their friends and began the running and playing.
We watched the end of the JV game which they lost by 1 point. Joe and his wife showed up and sat by us so he and I talked flying for a while.
The varsity game started and right away we were in control of the game.
We were up 21-0 when we headed for home as I had to get up really early this morning for grain.
As we were getting ready to go soak the freeze dryer had finished the cycle so I had to get the trays out and bagged.
The ancho came out really good and not very spicy without the seeds.
All the trays except the ancho got dumped into one bag which will get powdered up.
43 hrs 17 minutes for the cycle length.
Soaking was nice and I was out after an hour and to bed pretty quick.
This morning had a massive load of grain to get which I now have to go empty. Then I need to harvest anything ready, then head up to fly Parkers with the club this afternoon.
