The remnants of the storms were around yesterday morning and dropped a bit more moisture, not much but enough to help keep the air cooler for much of the day.
It looked like it wanted to DUMP but held off and just looked nasty for the morning.
Nice looking squash and just a handful.
The ex-rutabaga row got planted with red potatoes. 46 spots got stuffed with a spud and that made exactly 1000 spots planted this year with potatoes. I have plenty more space to put more if I want I just don't know how well they will do in the next less than 3 months...
A pair of cucumbers and a tomato were ready in the greenhouse. I have a lot of tomatoes that look to be nearing ripening.
Watched the US women win the gold in team gym before heading out to dig the next row of potatoes from the spud garden. I pulled all the plants for the last 2 rows first then pulled all the plastic aside.
After an hour I had the whole row dug and my back was SUPER Sore, as well as my knees and legs from the bending over.
Washed the spuds and got them to dry on the deck and have another 22.5 pounds. From 462 spots dug so far I have 659 pounds which has me down to 1.42lbs/spot but at 1000 spots now that should put me over 1400 pounds total this year.
I was out looking at the coop door opener and was going to work on it when I saw this nice barn spider in the midst of its web attached to the metal shield over the motor. It had just caught a bug so I let it be. I love the barn spiders, they are so hairy and cool looking and are voracious for bugs.
All day the clouds kept flying by looking super ominous but never dropping anything save a mist not long after this shot.
While waiting for @stryeyz to get home from work I was at the board for a bit and am finally refining my grip and throw better.
I was just reading an article from the local newspaper and found myself taking offense at a phrase...
“But until that analysis is performed,” Short said, “it’s just throwing darts at a board.”
I can say absolutely that throwing darts at a board can be rather accurate and is not just an act of chance. I was going for the triple bull and just missed when the 3rd dart clipped a flight and deflected to the 25. Not any chance, pure aim.
The peas were finally done in the freeze dryer and the cutting them in half made a big difference in run time. I still had to add on time to get them finished but they came out perfect.
The US stadium friendlies are ongoing and it was City against Barca and it was WONDERFUL to see Barca get the win in penalties. Anytime Pep loses is a good game. Utd play Betis tonight.
For dinner I made burgers and grilled. It's nice having the smaller section for the fires as I don't need much, just enough to grill with.
Out to soak and holy hell did I need it. I still feel like I need it this morning but I will just down a bunch of ibu.
I have to dig the last row of early potatoes today, it is going to be triple digits next couple of days, I want to tromp down the creek under the highway to check on the fish catch area on the other side, I will get any harvests done, and I should gather the dried peas to save for next year.
