Hello, my friends. What a pleasure to greet you again.

I've been away from the platform for a few days due to circumstances beyond my control. Problems almost always come together, as if they were a bunch of bananas. And that's exactly what happened to me. Because when health starts to waver, it's quite difficult to get it back on balance. This past August hasn't been a month; it's been a bad telenovela, the kind they show at two in the afternoon that makes you say, "this wouldn't even happen in the worst fiction." But it happens, everything happens. And here I am, trying to turn my face to the sun, as my grandmother used to say, even though the sun sometimes hides behind a cloud.

It all started with me. At the beginning of the month, I caught a good flu, or rather, a bad one. Fever, a headache, and body aches that barely let me walk. It was a strange thing, like a little horse was kicking me all over. I went to the doctor, and the doctor, with that "don't worry" face that actually worries you more, tells me my blood pressure is through the roof. Now I'm on a bunch of pills. This staying "healthy" business is serious stuff.

But that was only the beginning of a chain of illnesses. Because if I was sick, my mom got worse. She had a kidney crisis, and the poor thing looked like a deflated balloon. We ended up in the hospital. Seeing her curled up in the hospital bed, without even the strength to complain, was a blow that bent my spine. Me, with my blood pressure and all, I spent nights awake by her side, praying under my breath and promising everything to all the saints. She was admitted for 10 days, and I was with her. During those days, the only landscape I saw was through the glass of a large window.

And to complete the picture, because this is like a chaotic mess, my dad. My old man, who is strong and has a heart of gold, also caught the flu that knocked him down. And there I was, taking care of my mother in the hospital and thinking about how badly my dad was doing.

Now, as the days go by, things are falling into place. My mom is home, a little stronger and complaining about the food, which is a good sign. My dad is laughing again, and me, with my cough and my blood pressure under control, I feel stronger. Because this reminded me that health is a precious treasure. I learned that you can't go around with your heart on your sleeve, but you also shouldn't keep it locked in a drawer. You have to live day by day, love yourself a lot, and when a problem comes, grab it by the horns and say: "Hey, I'm in charge here!" So here we are, more careful, more loving, and with less salt. Because life, even though it sometimes gives you a beating, is always worth living.
