The Menu

Self-catering breakaways mean...you are catering for yourself, right?

Take 8 women from 8 households, and you could end up at your destination with 8 bottles of coffee, 8 litres of milk, 8 of everything; all basic food supplies duplicated, replicated, and so forth.

To make matters worse, all 8 gals may leave the most basic food ingredient, like salt, behind!
Something so mundane, without salt, food is tasteless - no low-sodium diets for a weekend getaway!

Thankfully that did not happen on a recent trip down the coast with mostly silver-haired old gals.

Basic menu planning made our self-catering getaway a breeze. Some offered their specialties which were added to the menu, what a pleasure!

The bonus was that we did not have any wastage, and everyone repacked unopened nibbles to take back home. We could binge on our favourite treats as consolation for having to split ways and return to the real world!

...and I have a stash of freshly roasted Beaver Creek Coffee to savour and bring back memories of the fabulous coffee tour we went on while down south.

Hubby and I often did do things on the spur of the moment, and end up having wonderfully special times, without any pre-planning.

Some things in life however require careful planning, especially for our silvery years.

It's never too early to look at ways to ensure we can still live a comfortable life, and have the freedom to do the things we love, once that corporate pay-cheque is whittled down to a monthly 'pension'.

Life, however, throws curveballs, and planning for our silver years goes out the window, but it is vital not to lose hope.
It is never too late to start a side hustle, and welcome a brand-new chapter into your life!
