When my dad and I researched how to get to the shoe stone, everywhere mentioned something about a complex and at first we didn't understand why. No one had recommended us to go there for lunch or do any other activity other than going up the hill a bit to see the particular stone, but when we arrived we understood everything. It was an abandoned place, which, of course, didn't make us hesitate when we entered to explore it a bit 😃.
Cuando mi papá y yo investigamos sobre cómo llegar hasta la piedra del zapato, en todos lados se mencionaba algo sobre un complejo y al principio no entendíamos el por qué. Nadie nos había recomendado ir a almorzar ahí o hacer alguna otra actividad que no sea subir un poco el cerro para ver la particular piedra, pero cuando llegamos entendimos todo. Se trataba de un lugar abandonado, que por supuesto, no nos hizo dudar al momento de entrar a recorrerlo un poco 😃.
What I liked about visiting the shoe-shaped stone was that both going up and down there were well-shaped stairs in the rocks. This, in addition to its proximity to the center of Capilla del Monte (only 1.5km), make it an ideal place for a short visit from which you can get a good view of the Cordoba mountains. However, in this place you will not find more than that stone and just a few simple shops with handicrafts, so it is not a place to spend the whole day, although before it seemed that it was 😶.
Lo que me gustó de visitar la piedra con forma de zapato fue que tanto para subir como para bajar habían escaleras bien formadas en las rocas. Esto, en adición a su cercanía al centro de Capilla del Monte (solo 1.5km), lo hacen un lugar ideal para una visita corta de la que puedes obtener una buena vista de las sierras cordobesas. Sin embargo, en este lugar no encontrarás más que esa piedra y apenas unos negocios sencillos con artesanías, por lo que no es un lugar para pasar el día completo, aunque antes parecía que sí lo era 😶.
When we got to this place, we did it by entering the street and we hadn't seen any of this, but when we went down from the small viewpoint we found these structures. I was glad at first because I thought there would at least be a functional bathroom, but I was asking too much. Apparently it was a large abandoned restaurant with an incredible view of the mountains 😵.
Cuando llegamos hasta este lugar, lo hicimos entrando por la calle y no habíamos visto nada de todo esto, pero cuando bajamos del pequeño mirador nos encontramos con estas estructuras. Al principio me alegré porque pensé que al menos habría un baño funcional, pero estaba pidiendo demasiado. Apartentemente se trataba de un gran restaurante abandonado con una increíble vista a las montañas 😵.
What surprised me about this place is that despite being abandoned, it was in good condition. There was no garbage and the smell was not as strong as one would expect in a tourist place where there is no bathroom nearby. All the walls were still standing, with some painted, but the rooms that made up this restaurant could be clearly distinguished 😃.
Lo que me sorprendió de este lugar es que a pesar de estar abandonado, se encontraba en buenas condiciones. No había basura y el olor no era tan fuerte como el que se esperaría en un lugar turístico en el que no hay un baño cerca. Todas las paredes seguían en pie, con algunas pintadas pero se podían distinguir perfectamente los ambientes que componían este restaurante 😃.
When I see a place like this it makes me sad to think that such a place has gone to ruin and is not being used. Perhaps at one time this was quite a busy dining hub, leading to its creation, but now only rubble remains. You could tell that this place was quite prepared for tourists because it had a large dining room, bar, kitchen, bathrooms, grills, and even a clay oven 😶.
Cuando veo un lugar así me da pena pensar en que tal lugar se haya ido a la ruina y no esté siendo aprovechado. Quizás en algún momento esto fue un centro gastronómico bastante concurrido, lo que llevó a su creación, pero ahora solo quedan los escombros. Se notaba que este local estaba bastante preparado para los turísitas porque tenía un gran salón comedor, barra, cocina, baños, parrillas y hasta un horno de barro 😶.
From what I was able to investigate, this restaurant has been abandoned for more than a decade, but apparently there are people who take care of keeping it in good condition, or at least the tourists are respectful. This whole place is beautiful, between the rocks and with a view of the mountains, who wouldn't want to be on vacation and have lunch in such a place? Although it seems that the illusion of good business was not enough to keep it going 😔.
Por lo que pude investigar, este restaurante lleva más de una decada abandonado pero aparentemente hay personas que se ocupan de mantenerlo en condiciones, o al menos los turistas son respetuosos. Todo este lugar es hermoso, entre las rocas y con vista a las montañas, ¿quién no querría estar de vacaciones y almorzar en un lugar así? Aunque parece que la ilusión de buen negocio no fue suficiente para mantenerlo en pie 😔.
But this place was not the only one abandoned here: further on there was another small place that also seemed to be a place to eat or hang out. This one looked more complete than the other: even the walls were better preserved and from the outside it almost didn't seem abandoned 🙃.
Pero este lugar no era el único abandonado acá: más adelante había otro pequeño sitio que también parecía ser un lugar para comer o pasar el rato. Este se veía más entero que el otro: incluso las paredes estaban mejor conservadas y por fuera casi que no parecía abandonado 🙃.
The first comment my dad made when we entered this place was "do you know what a roof like this is worth?" That made me laugh a bit because it's true, it looked like a nice and expensive roof, as well as well maintained. It was clearly noticeable that this place was newer than the other because it even still had its lamps and glass windows. A real shame that it has also been hit by neglect in the complex 😶.
El primer comentario que hizo mi papá cuando entramos a este lugar fue "¿vos sabes lo que vale un techo como este?". Eso me hizo reir un poco porque es cierto, se veía como un techo lindo y costoso, además de bien conservado. Claramente se notaba que este lugar era más nuevo que el otro porque incluso aún conservaba sus lámparas y ventanas de vidrio. Una verdadera pena que también haya sido alcanzado por el abandono en el complejo 😶.
The last thing on this tour but the first thing we had seen when we arrived was this big slide next to the main access to the shoe-shaped stone. This slide, about 10 meters high, was marked with signs "forbidden to use" on all sides and this is not surprising because the curious who want to try it anyway are never lacking. I don't know if this slide was to slide directly on the material it's made of, or if it had an inflatable on top of it or it could have even worked with water too. I did not find any photos of the complex in operation so I will remain with the doubt and you too 😅.
Lo último de este recorrido pero lo primero que habíamos visto cuando llegamos fue este gran tobogan al costado del acceso principal a la piedra con forma de zapato. Este tobogan de unos 10 metros de alto se encontraba señalizado con carteles de "prohibido su uso" por todos lados y esto no sorprende porque nunca falta el curioso que quiere probarlo de todos modos. No sé si este tobogan era para deslizarse directamente sobre el material del que está hecho, o encima lleva un inflable o incluso pudo haber funcionado con agua también. No encontré ninguna foto del complejo en funcionamiento así que me quedaré con la duda 😅.
Being in this place generated different sensations in me: on the one hand, how wonderful and intriguing abandoned places are, but on the other hand sadness for the abandonment of a place that could be offering a good service and employment to those who need it. Hopefully one day they will be able to recover it, they would make this place in Capilla del Monte even more interesting and I'm sure that tourists will enjoy it with pleasure ❤️.
Estar en este lugar me generó sensaciones diversas: por un lado, lo maravilloso e intrigantes que son los lugares abandonados, pero por otro lado tristeza por el abandono de un lugar que podría estar ofreciendo un buen servicio y empleo a quienes lo necesitan. Ojalá que algún día puedan recuperarlo, harían aún más interesante este lugar en Capilla del Monte y estoy segura de que los turistas lo disfrutaran con gusto ❤️.
