No cabe duda que hay cosas de un país , una cultura o una región del planeta de la cual tiene cosas tan icónicas como decir que la Torre Eiffel está en París o la estatua de la libertad está en New York , pues yo diría que un cubano que no conozca o haya visitado la Plaza de San Francisco de Asís (conocido popularmente como parque de las palomas) no conoce lo suficiente su país.

Hoy quiero hablarles un poco sobre éste lugar y sobre como en mi infancia realizaba una ruta, creo que bastante popular, cuando visitaba la habana vieja.
Hace ya unos años mi familia y yo decidiamos hacer una excursión a la habana buscando pasar un día agradable y sin duda la primera opción era la típica salida al Parque de las Palomas , una vez allí pasabamos un rato observando a señoras y señores alimentar a las palomas , turistas tomandose fotos y gran numero de personas decidiendo que lugar de la plaza visitar primero.
Ese lugar para mi siempre era "La Camara Oscura " si mal no recuerdo el nombre, en su octavo piso tenía unas vistas de la habana vieja muy bonitas, en la espera que empezara como tal la demostración dentro de la cámara, era casi obligatorio pararse en el balcon del edificio a tomarse fotos y ver a las personas pasar por debajo en la plaza.
Today I want to tell you a little about this place and about how in my childhood I used to go on a route, I think quite popular, when I visited Old Havana.
Some years ago my family and I decided to make an excursion to Havana looking for a nice day and without a doubt the first option was the typical trip to the Parque de las Palomas, once there we spent some time watching ladies and gentlemen feeding the pigeons, tourists taking pictures and a large number of people deciding which place to visit first.
That place for me was always "La Camara Oscura" if I remember the name, on its eighth floor it had a very nice view of old Havana, while waiting for the demonstration inside the camera to begin, it was almost mandatory to stand on the balcony of the building to take pictures and watch the people passing underneath in the square.
Ya en la cámara la guía te enseñaba como funcionaba el artefacto y te contaba como los de aquella época lo utilizaban para vigilar la ciudad y te tenermejor visión detodo lo que pasaba , creo que consistía en esferas de cristal acopladas como especie de un telescopio que proyectaba la luz sobre una mesa y asi sin aparatos electrónicos, solo con luz solar, se veía una imagen bastante definida como por arte de mágia.
Y recuerdo que siempre ponian un pedasito de papel sobre la proyeccion de la carretera para simular un puentr por donde pasaban los carros.

Luego de ahí ya entraba un poco el hambre y donde mejor podíamos comer para saciar esa hambre que en la "Casa de la Malta" , no estoy seguro si ese es el nombre oficial ,pero yo la conocía por ese , alli podíamos apreciar la arquitectura tabernera del lugar muy bonita la verdad, y pues la carta bastante interesante para exigentes y no tan exigentes (actualmente no tengo idea de si sigue igual de bien) , pues obviamente pediamos una pizza y como no una jarra de malta con leche condensada , de las mejores combinaciones que he comido nunca.
After that we got a little hungry and where better to eat to satisfy that hunger than in the "Casa de la Malta", I'm not sure if that's the official name, but I knew it by that. I am not sure if that is the official name, but I knew it by that, there we could appreciate the tavern architecture of the place, very nice indeed, and the menu was quite interesting for demanding and not so demanding (nowadays I have no idea if it is still as good), obviously we ordered a pizza and of course a jug of malt with condensed milk, one of the best combinations I have ever eaten.
Bien ya teníamos lugares visitados, fotografias y la barriga llena , que es lo que falta para hacer una ruta perfecta? Evidentemente llevarse un souvenir , y que mejor souvenir nos podriamos llevar que una rica figura de chocolate. Ya se imaginan cual es el último destino de la ruta ,claro la casa del chocolate , a pesar de que nunca nos sentamos como tal a probar del menu que vendian , siempre ibamos por esas figuras de chocolate que la caracterizan, como niño al fin siempre me quedaba babeado con todo el chocolate que veia en esos mostradores, y tener que comprae solo una era bien difícil.
Well we already had visited places, pictures and a full belly, what is missing to make a perfect route? Evidently to take a souvenir, and what better souvenir we could take than a delicious chocolate figure. You can imagine which is the last destination of the route, of course the chocolate house, although we never sat down as such to try the menu they sold, we always went for those chocolate figures that characterize it, as a child I was always drooling with all the chocolate I saw in those counters, and having to buy just one was very difficult.
