隆Hola!, 驴qu茅 tal, queridos Hivers?
Hello!, how are you, dear Hivers?
Thank you once again for your company. Let me tell you a life story. It turns out that about a year and some months ago, I set as one of my goals the creation of a well for my home, to ensure that precious liquid that we so desperately need.
As some wise people would say, many full moons have passed since then, but I know that, throughout all that time, I kept the idea alive that it was possible and achievable. One day I came home and my neighbor was starting the well we had talked about, and with the joy of someone who sees a dream close to coming true, I joined him on that journey.
We started like that, without measuring the ground or the test to see if there was a possibility of finding water or not. The truth is that it was a hunch, based on the fact that there are other wells nearby that gave water a few meters away, and a stroke of luck that our idea was not thwarted by a slab or many stones that would hinder our progress.
It is normal that at some point during the excavation, you encounter the firm ground, as the well-diggers say, people with the skills for the construction of traditional wells acquired through years of experience dedicated to such a difficult task. But in our case, it was not like that, we did not find that firm ground and dug the well to about 7 meters with the same width from the beginning.
After finishing the excavation, it was time to cover the walls so they would not collapse, but since there were no possibilities of buying cement, at least not in the necessary quantity, we turned to the skill of Antonio, an expert in the construction of traditional wells, to do that work for us.
It was not and is not an easy task to find the necessary stones to cover the entire wall, but even more difficult was arranging each stone to complete the mission.
We are close to finishing, in the upcoming days we will have the well covered with stones as much as possible, hoping that a heavy rain will prevent us from finishing on time. It is an imminent risk, delayed by climate change, in other times by this date the spring showers were already in full swing, but the fact that the first heavy downpour has not yet come has favored us, since if in this prolonged drought stage the well has a good depth and strong springs, when the rain starts, the water capacity should increase.
The good thing about this story and its lesson is not giving up until you achieve your goals, if you set an objective, destiny conspires to help you achieve it.
Until next time, not all the credit is mine, Luis Manuel, my neighbor, Noelsis, his father-in-law, Antonio, master builder, all of them deserve my recognition post.
