Exercising and working out are not the only ways you can keep healthy. There are other many ways a million ways you can achieve the same benefits and you do not have to stress enough on them. However, when you are dedicated to something, you should make sure that you follow it to the end. The hacks to keeping healthy and fit and you can achieve them in small ways that you might not even imagine. It does not have to be always about the intensive workouts and long hours in the gym. All you need to do is figure out what you can do to avoid the lazy lifestyle and you will be in good shape. As a matter of fact, an active lifestyle is the best way possible to keep yourself healthy. And I don’t include physical exercising as part of the active lifestyle. Here are 10 other ways you can keep yourself healthy without having to work out or exercise vigorously:

1. Eat healthy foods:

You should eat healthy foods so that you can acquire important nutrients that are crucial in boosting your health. There are a number of foods rich in carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals you can consume. The main idea is consuming them in moderation and ensuring your plate contains at least each of the mentioned ingredients. On top of that, these foods contain other variant key ingredients that have proven to be health beneficial in more than one way. Make sure you drink lots of water and eat fruits as well as vegetables daily.

2. Control your portions:

When you are eating, how much are you supposed to eat? In addition to eating healthy foods, you need to make sure that you are eating them in the right portions. One place people always go wrong is eating too much than their stomachs can hold. The more you eat, the higher your chances are of gaining weight. It is advisable that you cut down on the portions you eat of food, or try eating small bits of food in a day rather than eating 3 big meals.

As lame as it may sound, playing video games can help you keep healthy. Not necessarily the video games you play while seated but those that prompt you to be more involved in the game. This can either be Kinect, tennis, walk it out, just dance, or video games where you kill the bad guys. It is fun and at the same time, you are helping yourself keep healthy without even realizing it.

4. Walks

You do not have to run so that you can feel that you have worked out. No, even walking is as beneficial as running. To increase the effectiveness, you can try walking a little bit faster if you want to be somewhere in between walking and jogging. If you feel tired and stressed, do not walk to bed. Leave the house and walk around the neighborhood. You can also walk along the beach if it is nearby to help you get relaxed. Adventure walks are also ideal and as you slowly work your body, you will also be alleviating stress and keeping healthy.

This is so fun, who knew tree climbing can help them keep healthy. If there is a tree on your backyard, you can start there. I’m sure when you were a kid you loved climbing trees. Even when you were told not to, the tree always seemed to call you for climbing. Anyways, climbing is beneficial in that you use energy and burn calories. To make it even more fun, you can compete with family members and see who can climb faster.

Get your inner kid out and play a game with your children. Playing tag is fun but at the same time it helps you work out as you are chasing and being chased. Alternatively, you can play football, basketball, or skip rope. The aim is to find something interesting that helps you work out without actually working out.

Swimming is also a great way of keeping healthy without working out. As you dive in water, swing along in the blue water pool, you are usually exercising your body. Yet, it never feels like you are doing so. If you have a pool in your residential area, make a point off swimming as often as possible in a week so that you can keep yourself healthy.

You can opt to buy a dog and walk it around or find one from the neighborhood to walk. If you want to walk but you don’t want to walk alone, the dog will come in handy. After all, it also need to stretch its muscles in an outdoor environment.

Dancing gets you moving which is fun and at the same time you get to keep healthy. You can join a dance class or find a DVD with dances which you can dance to the moves. Even better, you can download dance videos which you can also dance to.

Do simple household chores such as cleaning the floors or washing the dishes. You should also train yourself to make your own bed. As meagre as household chores may seem, they are actually one of the best ways you can keep healthy. It never feels like you are working but behind the cleaning and tidying up, you are burning calories.
