On a hot Summer day

A hot Summer day at Halo Halo De Iloco

Our province, La Union is one of the tourist destination in the Philippines during summer. La Union is located at the northern part of the Philippines. It's a 4-6 hours drive from Manila. Tourist love to visit our place because of the nice beaches, a surfing haven for surfers and a food haven for food lovers. One of the famous place that I would recommend and tourist love to eat and dine is at Halo Halo de Iloco. Halo Halo de Iloco is well known because of the delicious food that they served and the place is very well known to local artist. They got a nice ambiance and very cozy place.

One of the famous food that they serve is the "Halo Halo". Halo halo is a popular dessert here in the Philippines which is being served with different ingredients like sweet beans, sweetened banana, sweet potato, nata de coco, jelly and other kinds of fruits on top with shaved ice and evaporated milk. Some put a toppings on it like ice cream, purple yum, corn flakes and leche flan.

The proper way to eat halo halo is to mixed them all until you see every ingredient is well blended. The reason why you need to mixed them all is to taste all the ingredients in one bite.

Another food that you may want to try is there "palabokano" (palabok). Palabok is also a well known food in the Philippines. It's a rice noodle with a sauce and a toppings of egg, chicaron, shrimp, and green onions for the typical Palabok. Halo halo de Iloco made a twist on there ingredient to make it unique from the typical palabok that is being serve. They use ilocos longganisa to add to there sauce that makes the taste different from the typical palabok being serve. Ilocos longganisa is a local delicacy that you find here in our province, it's consist of ground meat, mince garlic, pepper and wrap with pork intestines.
