Grilled Fish with Toasted Sesame & Sticky Rice

THE STORY

I made this dish a number of years ago in my second year at university. This recipe won't be accurate to what's pictured, as I have done this from memory, but I remember it was delicious and proceeded to make it several times--until I ran out of fish. ;) Please try this recipe and tell me how it goes, and if you like this kind of post, please be sure to leave a comment/suggestion so I know you guys like this sort of thing. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

  • Cooked Short Grain (Sticky) Rice
  • Fish Fillet (preferred type. I used Talapia)
  • Furikake (Japanese Rice Seasoning)
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Soy Sauce
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Sugar
  • Sake

INSTRUCTIONS

Cook the rice according to package instructions, and top with desired amount of furikake. Finely chop 1 clove of garlic and small amount of fresh ginger root, set aside and dry toast approximately 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds in frying pan. Set aside sesame.

In the same pan, grill fish with salt, pepper, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and sake. Once fish is cooked, plate and set aside. Add extra sake, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame seed to the warm pan and reduce to a sauce.

Add sauce to small side-dish and sprinkle furikake onto grilled fish if desired. Serve while still warm with a fresh pot of green tea.
