Our landlord took us to a little restaurant outside of Playa Del Carmen called Le Pe Tita en la Playita, which translates to The Little One at the Beach. Sounds a whole lot cuter in Spanish, doesn't it? :) It's in Puerto Morelas, about 30 minutes from home.
Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was the amount of cars; always a good sign at a restaurant! We also couldn't have asked for a better day; blue skies, a slight breeze, and an oceanside restaurant.
Here's the view from the restaurant, which literally is on the beach!
There was a tin corrugated roof with some Mexican decorations,
and simple plastic tables and chairs, compliments of Tecate [te-KAW-tay], the beer company and a favorite beer amongst the locals...and me :),
all held together with a lovely thatched roof. So simple! Our feet were in the soft, cool, white sand :)
Upon arrival, we were ushered into the kitchen, and this lovely server opened the big chest cooler to reveal hawkfish, freshly caught that morning, by men with spears; one at a time. No fishing lines whatsoever. She rifled around to find ones that were approximately all the same size for us.
They vary in size, but the price is based on weight. Once we chose our fish, it was placed on the scale behind us, and off we went to our table to wait. Nope, we didn't pick this big guy ... the fish, not Brian ... he's already spoken for :)
And voila! This fish appears to be very happy to have given himself up for us :) It may not look like much, but whatever spices they used, and however they grilled it, this was without a doubt, the best fish I've ever had in my life!!!
How do you know, you ask?... Yep, nearly licked every bone clean! When I saw a restaurant full of locals, picking pieces of the fish up by hand and sucking on it, I happily joined in. (wow, I just re-read that, and if you're head's in the gutter, good on ya! :)
Brian had a spectacular day, but by the time we arrived back home, he was very tired, but said it was all worth the effort. With our bellies full, and eyes a little heavy from the Tecate, Brian had a rest inside, and I decided to have a look at steemit, so my assistant Buddy, decided to join me :)
Apparently he's been eating too much as well :)
Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoying this day with us :)
