The weather today was relatively decent as the "storm"
from yesterday had pretty much passed,
so we decided to go and spend an afternoon
in the Caribbean... ;)
🍌 BANANA JAM CAFE 🍌 - 🍹 CARIBBEAN CUISINE ADVENTURES 🍹
Banana Jam Café is a local and long time locals favourite
in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town,
and is always great for a vibey afternoon or evening out,
at a REALLY decent price!
The atmosphere of the place is SERIOUSLY laid back,
so a great place to just stick your feet up,
listen to some reggae and enjoy the time ticking by...
Not only do they have over 30 crafts beers on tap,
80 in bottles and one of the best rum collections I have seen,
but they also have their own brewery upstairs from the restaurant,
which we went to go and take a gander at after our lunch...
not only is this space used for the creation of their own craft beers,
but is also offered as a private function space.
Ok touring done lol...
it was time to grab a table and get some vino!
We were sitting outside and it was pretty cool,
so we ordered a red wine..
A 2016 Bosman Bo-Vallei Merlot to be precise...
After a cheers and a few sips,
it was time for lunch.
The food was so reasonably priced that you can actually afford
to have a the course meal without the pocket really feeling it.
So we got a buffalo wing starter...
free range chicken wings,
tossed in chilli butter
and served with a blue cheese dip
They were DIVINE!!!! and not for the faint-hearted lol!
For mains, We had...
Jerk Chicken Pasta -
Spicy Jamaican jerk chicken,
with peppers and onion, tossed in fusilli.
and
Rum Pork -
Tender pork loin marinated with fresh thyme,
chilli and onion - topped with a creamy rum gravy,
served with sweet potato and Jamaican style rice.
Both mains were really great!
No, I did not eat both lol -
but did have a taste of the jerk chicken pasta,
and to be honest, as great as the rum pork was,
I think if I were to order again,
I would probably go for the jerk chicken pasta...
as I found the pork a little too heavy for me.
but not heavy enough to stop me from having dessert...
hahahaha!!!
And that was AMAZING!!!!
It was
Key Lime Pie -
served with mascarpone and strawberry couli
And after that,
I literally could not MOVE...
So it was just as well that we got stuck in traffic on the way home,
as I needed some recovery time haha!
It was nice to get out and go taste exploring!
I love trying out cuisine from different parts of the world,
and also happen to spot a Mexican restaurant across the road,
so will most likely be visiting that soon enough....
🍌 🍹 🍌 🍹 🍌 🍹
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx
