We call these months as ‘month of Honey’, because a lot of seasonal fruits are available at this moment. How many names shall I mention? All are competitor of one another considering the taste and popularity. I have divided today’s article into two parts. Initially we will have some ideas about seasonal fruits of Bangladesh and later on we will try to discover the health hazard of this fruits due unethical handling by the traders. Let’s talk about some of those fruits which are most popular.
Mango:
Jack fruit:
Litchi:
Banana:
Black Barry:
Health hazard:
It doesn’t sound good that fruits have health hazards. But unfortunately it’s true. There is a chemical named Formaline which is used in fruits to protect from rotten. Formaline, another form of Formaldehyde is mainly used for industrial purposes and has wide variety of use as preservatives of different chemicals, dyestuffs etc. But the matter of sorrow is - it is now being used as preservatives of fruits. If we inhale or consume this chemicals, can cause indigestion, skin allergens and can cause cancer even.
Awareness:
We should not be convinced with the appearance of the fruits while purchasing. We should consider and choose the quality and chemical free fruits. Though it’s difficult to find quality fruits by visual observations, sometimes it’s possible with the experience and questionnaire asking to the traders. The most important awareness is- we have to wash the fruits very carefully after bringing at home. If possible, need to wash with warm water of 40•C temperature as Formaline is volatile in this trmperature.
