The past several days have been truly hot for us here. The sun is beating down from the sky and the cities are suffering. But it is on those days that I am always drawn to a place that has a special magic:

Sometimes it is the unexpected encounters that tell beautiful stories, like when I recently discovered a distant elderberry bush on a walk. . At first glimpse, it was seemingly in full bloom. A good view.

Everything is dry in the forest. Rain is very rare this year, and I notice it clearly as I walk along familiar paths. Even the mushrooms, which so desperately need moisture, are now fighting for survival.
