生活中，面對世界的態度有兩種截然不同的態度。一個是移情，另一個是抽離。它們對應心理學上的二種投射機制，也是是移情作用和抽象作用。移情作用是把自我投射到客體中，藉以同化及認同客體。抽象作用則是感受到客體對主體的威脅，而讓自我從環境抽離向內尋求防衛自我不受傷害的公式；取決於擅長思考能力或是情感能力。

每個人都有求生本能和與生俱來的天賦，有些事似乎不太需要特別學習，就能表現得比別人出色，善加利用，就能為人生尋求立足之地。比如說技術強的人可以做出平常人難以做到的事，但沒有技術可以靠行銷能力，透過銷售媒介技術與需求，而達到更大效用。天賦的意義在於把能力用在適當的地方，於是了解自己的特長就變得非常重要。
