Does the noise of a person chewing by your side bother you?

Greetings friends of steemit,

Today I will inform you about a condition that many people are unaware that they may suffer from it.

Are you one of the people who CAN NOT stand the noise of someone eating by your side? ...

If so, you are likely to suffer from misophonia, which is the disorder that causes some sounds to create real psychological distress.

Maybe some of you were having dinner with your friends or family and suddenly, instead of enjoying the food and the company, you stop at the noise that makes a diner's mouth while they eat and chew food, maybe a little .. . too strong.

This situation, in some cases, can transform a pleasant moment of sharing into a real audible test.

This is the misofonía, literally "hatred of sound", which has been included in the family of anxiety disorders in which irritation and nervousness are due to small details such as, among the most frequent, the chewing and swallowing noise . The consequences at the moment that this disorder generates can be the loss of concentration, the disgust, the anger, but also the real feelings of resentment and hatred toward the person who makes noise while eating. Often, the patient chooses to leave the table.

This neuro-psychological disorder is quite common, but poorly diagnosed. Of course, everyone can be bothered by someone who eats too strong, but this is at the limit of normality until it affects everyday life, ruining social life in some cases, as often happens in the case of misophonia .

Origin of the disorder.

Mental health varies according to the biochemical reactions that take place in our brain, where neurotransmitters are synthesized and processed continuously, among them, serotonin and dopamine are sometimes present in too large or too small amounts and these variations can be a source of problems, including misophony.

For those who suffer from it, particular sounds, such as chewing, in some individuals trigger reactions known as fight or flight, that is, those in which the body is prepared to react to danger. It produces adrenaline and cortisol that increase heart rate, breathing and muscle tone to help you cope as best you can, fleeing or reacting strongly.

Treatment of misophony.

There is no specific treatment, since the cure to this condition has not yet been found, however, in the case of the misophonia diagnosed, some doctors prescribe drugs whose task is precisely to regulate the levels of neurotransmitters, mainly serotonin, but therapeutic intervention must be taken into consideration at several levels.
