Nuts contain enzyme inhibitors which act by binding to enzymes and decreasing or blocking their actions. The enzyme inhibitors stop nuts from prematurely sprouting, however they also act on our digestive enzymes, interfering with our digestion and absorption.
Nuts and seeds also contain small amount of phytic acid, which our digestive system is unable to break down. Eating large amounts of raw nuts could lead to feeling uncomfortably full, heavy and even nauseous and can put strain on our digestive
Systems. Activated nuts are an expensive purchase in the health food stores and are quite easy to make at home just using water, salt and a dehydrator or oven.
How to activate nuts ? *Take a bowl of water, enough to cover the nuts and dissolve the required amount of salt into it
*add the nuts and seeds to the salt solution. *Soak for the required number of hours.
*spread over the tray and place in the dehydrator for 12-24 hours. If you don't have a dehydrator you can use and oven. Set the oven on the lowest temperature possible and occasionally stir.
Ioccasionally, for the required drying time.
