A new game to play / @actifit

And no, it's not whack-a-mole, although many STS fans have been playing that game too in recent weeks :D

Yesterday I went cross-country in the UK and visited some friend on towards the east of England in a town called Ely. I'd call this quite a well-to-do town which a high standard of living for the most part. They have pubs along the water, and I watched a couple of those pull up and moor before their owners got off for a meal and a few drinks in the evening sun - a nice life to lead I am sure.

Prior to that, my friend and his son visited an old golf course, not to play golf, but to play... Foot-golf. Basically, the game is pretty much the same as golf, except you use footballs, your feet, and the holes are substantially bigger :)

I quite fancied my chances to score well, especially against my friends 5 year old son, but as it turned out we ended up drawing - 20 or so over par. I'd like to have an excuse, which I do, but I must say this lad was pretty damn good - he is playing for under 7's at Norwich City though.

The first hole started well, a nice 'tee' shot down the middle, a fairway 'drive' to the green, and a two putt. The 2nd hole didn't go quite so well though. Being 40 now, not warming up, and having not kicked a football for a good year or two, going for a full whack off the 2nd tee was probably not the best idea - my left thigh muscle gave way, and I then had to play 17.5 holes with my right foot - which i generally only use for standing on.

I'm guessing it will be a month or so now before my thigh feels better, and I'm looking at this as a reason I need to start exercising again regularly. Yesterdays steps/activity points were far better than today's, but I didn't get chance to post last night and so here we go.

Despite knackering my leg, I'm looking forward to another game, perhaps next year, when the sun shines on the UK once more.

Cheers

Asher
