Hola mis amores

Siempre es un buen momento para aprender y comenzar a hacer cosas nuevas, me encanta cuando puedo explorar todas mis posibilidades y darme cuenta que no hay límites para crear.

Hoy vengo a compartir con ustedes cómo confeccioné y cosí mi primer vestido, una amiga que vive en Estados Unidos me mandó varias telas y pues, tenía muchas ganas de realizar algo con ellas. Me encantan los vestidos que son holgados y cómodos, y tengo uno en particular que me gusta mucho, por eso decidí replicarlo.

Tenía tiempo sin compartir por esta comunidad, porque mi maquina de coser estaba dañada, se había trancado y no sabía como arreglarla, hasta que me ayudaron con los recursos para contratar a un técnico que vino a mi casa y me la reparó. Tenía muchas piezas trabadas con hilos y también le hacía falta aceite en algunas piezas.

Como estoy aprendiendo, el mismo técnico me enseñó algunas cosas para arreglarla, que son sencillas y también a colocarle el aceite si la siento muy dura. Entre las cosas más interesantes que aprendí, fue la posición en que se coloca la aguja, que de hacerlo mal se traba y daña la maquina, cosa que no sabía.

No soy costurera profesional apenas estoy aprendiendo, así que decidí copiar el modelo del vestido de una manera muy intuitiva. Este vestido me gusta mucho porque es muy fresco, las mangas son súper cómodas y se puede usar casual o como para un evento nocturo si lo combino con zandalias altas o con zapatillas bajas.

Les cuento como lo hice:

Lo primero que hice fue doblar la tela por la mitad, para conseguir las dos tapas del vestido, luego coloqué el vestido modelo sobre la tela para ver si alcanzaba y al darme cuenta de que sí, procedí a fijarlo con alfileres en la tela.

Luego usando el vestido viejo como patrón, recorté la tela con la misma forma, para el cuello, copié en una hoja de papel la forma del cuello del vestido modelo, y la recorté exactamente en la cara frontal del vestido nuevo.

Al tener el vestido cortado, procedí a coser los espacios que determinarían las mangas.

Luego me lo probé para comprobar que todas las medidas habían quedado bien, y me dispuse a coser los detalles de los ruedos y el cuello para que quedara mas prolíjo. Realmente fue un proceso fácil ya que éste vestido tiene un diseño muy sencillo.

De esta manera quedó terminado mi vestido, es una tela muy cómoda, me voy a hacer muchos de otros colores y estampados, es muy fresco y fue muy sencillo de confecccionar.

Crear forma parte de nuestras vidas, poder confeccionar nuestra propia ropa de alguna manera nos da una libertad que es muy gratificante, ya que podemos elegir lo que nos gusta y si tenemos los recursos y crearlo nosotros mismos y así evitar gastos de dinero extra, una de las cosas que más me tiene emocionada con la costura, es poder ir recreando piezas que tengo en mi closet que me gustan mucho y que ya no voy a poder conseguir en una tienda.

It's always a good time to learn and start making new things, I love when I can explore all my possibilities and realize that there are no limits to create.

Today I come to share with you how I made and sewed my first dress, a friend who lives in the United States sent me several fabrics and well, I really wanted to do something with them. I love dresses that are loose and comfortable, and I have one in particular that I really like, so I decided to replicate it.

I had some time without sharing in this community, because my sewing machine was damaged, it had jammed and I didn't know how to fix it, until they helped me with the resources to hire a technician who came to my house and repaired it. It had many pieces stuck with threads and it also lacked oil in some parts.

As I am learning, the same technician taught me some things to fix it, which are simple and also how to put the oil on it if I feel it is too hard. One of the most interesting things I learned was the position in which the needle is placed, which, if done incorrectly, can jam and damage the machine, something I didn't know.

I am not a professional seamstress, I am just learning, so I decided to copy the model of the dress in a very intuitive way. I really like this dress because it is very fresh, the sleeves are super comfortable and it can be worn casual or for an evening event if I combine it with high sandals or low sneakers.

I tell you how I made it:

The first thing I did was to fold the fabric in half, to get the two tops of the dress, then I placed the model dress on the fabric to see if it was enough and when I realized that it was, I proceeded to pin it to the fabric.

Then using the old dress as a pattern, I cut out the fabric in the same shape, for the neckline, I copied on a sheet of paper the neckline shape of the model dress, and cut it out exactly on the front side of the new dress.

Having the dress cut out, I proceeded to sew the spaces that would determine the sleeves.

Then I tried it on to check that all the measurements were correct, and I sewed the details of the hem and the neckline to make it more prolific. It was really an easy process since this dress has a very simple design.

This is how my dress was finished, it is a very comfortable fabric, I am going to make many other colors and prints, it is very fresh and it was very easy to make.

Creating is part of our lives, being able to make our own clothes somehow gives us a freedom that is very rewarding, because we can choose what we like and if we have the resources and create it ourselves and thus avoid spending extra money, one of the things that has me most excited about sewing, is to be able to recreate pieces that I have in my closet that I really like and that I will no longer be able to get in a store.
