Exercising faith (Hospitalized mom)

Greetings dear Hive family, may God bless you with an abundance of health and well-being.

These last few days I had to be absent from the platform for a while, initially because of problems with the internet service server (thank God solved) and later because of my mother's delicate health situation, which I will refer to in the following texts.

My mother is 91 years old, it is certainly a very advanced age, any disease is difficult for her to cope, she is also hypertensive and overweight. Although she tried to lose weight for a while on the doctor's recommendation, she did not see the desired results, she is a good eater, however a few days ago she lost her appetite completely, she did not want to eat anything, we had to urge her to eat, give her the food in her mouth, she also felt continuously tired and without strength. Then she started with fever and decompensated quickly, she needed to be taken to the hospital to have the doctor's diagnosis and to be treated correctly. There she was evaluated and subsequently hospitalized.

When I spoke to the doctor he told me that because of my mother's age she had to have all the tests to be well diagnosed, that her whole body was resentful so to speak because of her age, that he could not hydrate her much, that we all wanted her to live longer and that he would do his best for her until the end, that he would leave her in the hospital for a study.

I told him that mom had a fever again and that I would give her acetaminophen, he said yes. When I returned to her I was afraid, she was trembling with fever, she managed to take the pill with some effort because she could not open her mouth properly. I took a handkerchief, I moistened it and time after time I began to place it on her forehead, while I was doing this I heard her say some words and then she kissed my hands when I took the handkerchief from her forehead. He took her, pulled her to him and kissed her. I was afraid, it was a goodbye? No, I could not let fear and sadness fill me, there were only 4 days left for my son's graduation, I prayed to God for my mother's health and life and for that day to be a happy day, not a day of sadness, I prayed with all my heart and mind for the fever to stop and for my mother to be well, I decided to believe, to trust in God that everything would be all right.

That day in prayer I remembered many beautiful things about mom's kindness to others and I talked about it with God, among other things I told God "Lord, it is your daughter who has always served you by helping others, so many people with whom she shared food (several faces of people came to my mind), I know that the breath of life belongs to you, forgive me if I offend in any way, you have blessed her so much, but I don't want her to go yet, I don't feel strong, give her healing, Friday is Jairus' graduation, Lord let this be a happy day for everyone, I ask it through the merits of Jesus Christ".

Please do not minimize what it means to pray, I am not talking about religion, I am talking about faith and what this can bring us in a difficult situation, instead of doubting, crying or despairing, developing faith in a difficult context helps us to maintain control, have self-control, think clearly, transmit tranquility to others, even science makes reference to this today, believing helps to have hope and hope brings many benefits to the human being. On the other hand if you are a believer, you can feel God's guidance in your life and this is wonderful. (On the other hand I ask permission to the community for the religious connotation of my writing, but it is part of my experience that day).

Until then we were in the emergency area, the fever stopped and she was moved to floor 2, bed 14, there she could be more comfortable and better attended, she slept all night and the next morning she asked me for food "I'm hungry - she said, now I'm going to eat everything", I thanked God very much. During the course of that day she had several tests, most of them were paid, only 2 were free at the hospital, the others I paid for at a private lab, we didn't have much money, but God provided. These showed a high glycemia and a urine infection, with these results he was given better treatment.

On Thursday she was better and my brother stayed the night with her so that I could attend my son's graduation, when I got home they called me to go quickly, that my mother had already been discharged, what a joy I felt. It was a happy day not only because my son graduated, but also because my grandmother left the hospital and was able to congratulate him and hug him that day, I thank God for that.

Mom still requires a lot of care because of her age and is slowly improving, but I thank God that she is still among us. When I was in the hospital for some reason 3 boys came to my mind to whom mom always kept food for them, by now they must be men, I don't know about them, I was a teenager at that time. They lived with their dad and stepmother, she punished them for anything by sending them to school without eating, when mom knew this she talked to the children and told them that when that happened they should come to our house without shame to look for food. The children came almost every day, the food was always there for them and if there was no food mom would tell us to prepare something quick. The stepmother died of cancer many years ago, the kids I don't know where they are, mom talked to her several times as a friend about how she treated the kids. Just like that I have many memories of my mom's kindness and hospitality. I thank God for not forgetting my dear mother and the long life he has given her.

Thank you for reading me, God bless you immensely, a hug.
