Déjà Vu is hard to describe, so hard that there haven't been a correct English word to describe the experience. However, as we all know and appreciate, it is a strong feeling that we are experiencing time a second time in exact fashion and manner, as though, we have pre-lived the moment.

Conceptualizing Déjà Vu Further for the Layman

Déjà Vu is a special feeling that some people get when they feel like they've been somewhere or seen something before, even if they know they haven't. Imagine you're at a park, and you see a tree you've never seen before, but it feels like you have. That's kind of like Déjà Vu.

It's like your brain is playing a trick on you and making you feel like you've been there before. But don't worry, it's not a scary thing. It's just a funny feeling that some people get. And the good news is, it goes away pretty quickly.

Scientists aren't exactly sure why some people get Déjà Vu, but they think it might have to do with how our memories work. Sometimes our memories can play a trick on us and make us think we've experienced something before.

My Experience

I have experienced Déjà Vu several times in my life, and every time it has been a somewhat eerie but fascinating feeling. Most often, I experienced Déjà Vu was when I visit a new city. During these times, nothing seems new again as everything, and everyone simply looks and feels familiar.

A more recent occurrence I can relate to is December 2022 in which I spent over 70% of the time in a new city. I was walking down the street, taking in the sights and sounds, when suddenly I had the feeling that I had been there before. The buildings, the people, even the weather seemed familiar, as if I had lived that moment before. It was a strange feeling, and I couldn't shake it off.

Every time I visit a new place, I seem to experience Déjà Vu. I see faces that look familiar, even though I know I've never met these people before. This feeling of familiarity makes it easy for me to bond with new people and makes me feel more connected to the world around me.

Déjà Vu can be a confusing feeling, and I often question the reality of my experiences.

But it also makes me appreciate the present moment more. I realize that I may never experience that exact moment again, and I try to savor it as much as I can.

While the feeling of Déjà Vu can be intriguing, it's important to remember that it is not harmful. Scientifically, it has been suggested that Déjà Vu occurs when there is a delay in the transfer of information from short-term memory to long-term memory. Some researchers have even suggested that it may be a sign of psychic abilities.

The bottom-line is that déjà vu is a unique and mysterious experience that has been experienced by many people. It can be confusing, but it can also help us appreciate the present moment more. Whether it's a glitch in the mind or a sign of psychic abilities, Déjà Vu is a reminder to never take a single moment for granted.
