But there are fears that are detrimental, especially the kind of fear that keeps one from trying things out.
All of us have experienced fear in that dimension before; sometimes, it ends well, but most times it ends badly.
Those who are familiar with gambling and trading will relate to this very well. That very opportunity you hesitate to take because of fear would suddenly end up paying off, and you would be left with nothing but regrets.
It sounds casual, but fear has made a lot of people miss out on opportunities that would have transformed their lives for good, and the annoying part is that unless one decides to master their fears by making decisions regardless, the same result is bound to occur.
One time I felt fear and still ended up making the decision was when I started blogging on Hive Blockchain.
Prior to that time, I lost all my money to a Ponzi scheme, “students wallet.” I had so much hope in the project; I thought I was going to make it through that project.
Sadly, it crashed without even giving me 2% of what I invested. I was still trying to heal from that loss when my friend @ovey10 spoke to me about the Hive Blockchain.
It was a very tough decision for me. At first I declined, and I was blunt: “I just got scammed by a project I invested all my savings into. I don't want to have anything to do with anything digital.”
The effect of what I experienced with that Ponzi scheme left me thinking that all digital opportunities are scams.
My friend, on the other hand, kept insisting I give it a try since I don't necessarily need to invest if I don't want to.
But I seriously didn't want to waste my time on anything, either.
Let's tell ourselves the truth: time is also a currency; it hurts even more when we give our time to something, and then it ends up not benefiting us.
Nevertheless, after much thought and analysis, I decided to give it a trial. Since my money is not getting involved, and even if it is, why not give it a try? At least it is better than not trying anything at all.
If it goes, it goes; if I lose or waste my time, at least I will learn something in the process, and that was how I overcame the fear.
That was part of the reason why I didn't care much about making money when I came on board; I had little expectations.
I had to protect my heart by not expecting anything so that I wouldn't get hurt another time; I am certain that the wounds won't heal fast this time.
And luckily, my effort and decisions didn't go in vain; here I am still on Hive Blockchain, and I have never regretted taking that decision.
Fear is good, but we must never let it make decisions for us. One thing I understand about fear is that it is a protective shield; it doesn't want anything to harm or inconvenience us. That is why any threat it senses, it immediately sends resistance to hold us back.
But we can't live that way; in life, we take opportunities regardless of what lies ahead, and if we win, we win, but if we lose, we learn, adjust, and try again.
