Yeah... I know what you're thinking: Clearly that's not a Stradivarius. Nope! Just an old Violin.
So something perky happened to me today, or at least I thought it was quite perky: today I got a call from an old bud of mine from music school, Sarah, whom wanted me to watch her very special, good luck charm violin, for the weekend (all day Friday and Saturday) because she'd be traveling out of state...
You see, the whole thing started this morning: I had been resting peacefully in my bed, still recovering from my illness when, I got a call from Sarah saying that she was coming over and had something important for me to do.
So, considering how it was a favor asked from a good friend, I agreed.
"Sure thing" I said.
And so, while waiting for her to come, I just did the usual: Checked in with Hive, checked in with the Ethgames fam, checked up on some college work and etc. Oh shoot! Before I forget, today was the day I almost broke my:
No meat for a whole month eating challenge!
My goodness, this shit is starting to get so unbearable! Damnit, I actually almost caved in today! You see, turns out that we had completely ran out of fish today(I usually use fish to compensate for no meat) but silly, little old, oblivious me, had no freaking idea! Ha! So I'm sure you can imagine the surprise I had on my face when I checked the refrigerator and saw only MEAT!!!
Thankfully, by some unknown miracle of the universe, I found a way to resist the urge and instead decided to mix up some salad?... Yeah, it wasn't the best looking one.
Help me! I'm hideous!!!
Hey, you wanna know one thing that helps with meat urges?... Realizing that the Chicken you wanna eat is actually a Chicken!.
Damnit, I'm getting off track again... Tell me, where was I going again with this post again?...
Right, you can't hear me from all the way beyond the FOURTH WALL!
Ah yes! Nevermind, i remember now. Yeah so, after all the usual antics – Sarah arrived!
Yup! She came in, I embraced her, we caught up then... She gave me her violin and told me to watch it for the weekend until she arrives back and takes it back from me in time for her recital on Sunday.
Sarah though, was very strick with her ground rules. And considering how this particular Violin, an instrument she had performed with for over 19 years, was her good luck charm... She made it very clear that nothing and absolutely NOTHING should happen to it.
Her ground rules I believe were:
Don't touch the Violin.
Don't even look at it.
Don't you dare even think about playing with it!
Just keep it in your closet, IN THE CASE, until I get back.
Yeah so... I didn't do that. As you can see in the picture above, I might've broken just about every ground rule up there apart from Rule 3.
Hehe... She's lucky I don't know how to play this thing :)
Oh wait, what's that you say? "I'm a terrible friend because I didn't adhere to her ground rules?"... Puppy's cock! I would never!! Truth is, that Violin you see there in the picture, is actually just my Cousin's old one. Heck no, I couldn't dream of going against Sarah's rules. Oh no... She would bite me if I did XD
Oh fuck, I think I might've misspelt the word "Poppycock" back there lol😂
Seriously though, I am actually very happy that my friend was able to entrust in me well enough to look after a very sentimental item of hers. It feels very good. Makes me feel... invaluable you know?
But fuck it though, I know for certain that if it were me, I wouldn't even let my own mother look after my instrument 😂. I'm just that weird and protective of it.
Yup, I guess I was just made different. I don't know... There's just this bond that I have with my Clarinet and piano that sometimes drives me nuts!
For example, when the coronavirus recently came out, I distinctly recall the type of passionate relationship I had with my hands, hand sanitizer, and clarinet. If someone where to ask to hold my instrument, even if it were a family member at home, I would enquire if the had used a sanitizer in the last 5 minutes and if they hadn't, I would rage and swear the person away from me! Ranting and accusing them for wanting to give myself, AND the instrument, the pandemic! LoL, I can be dramatic that way.
It might be a bit too far fetched but... I'm sure everybody too, has that one item they never let anyone touch.
