A long time ago, I was really keen to watch zombie movies and TV shows, so much so that it felt like an obsession. I spent several days watching way too much zombie-related content. After watching so many series and movies, I came to a conclusion: the best zombie productions are undoubtedly Korean. They have a great list of series and films that, over the years, have become iconic and are widely recognized around the world for their ingenious stories.
Hace mucho tiempo, estuve con mucha ganas de ver películas y series de Zombis, tanto que parecía obsesión, por lo que pasé algunos días viendo demasiadas cosas sobre Zombis. Entre muchas series y películas, llegué a una conclusión, pues los mejores en el tema de los Zombis sin duda son los Coreanos, pues estos tienen una buena lista de series y películas que al pasar los años son altamente icónicas y son muy reconocidas por todo el mundo por las historias ingeniosas que estas suelen tener.
Of all the films I've seen, the duo of movies "Train to Busan" and "Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula" definitely left me with the conclusion that these feature the strongest zombies I've ever seen. They're fast, powerful, and undoubtedly caused the most havoc in the city. But I should mention that I only saw "Peninsula" yesterday to see if what people were saying was true: that it's not as good as its predecessor.
Entre todas las que vi, está el dúo de películas de "Train to Busan" (부산행 Busanhaeng) y Train to Busan Presents: Península (반도 Bando) sin duda me dejaron con la conclusión de que aquí se encuentran los Zombis más fuertes de los que llegué a ver, ya que son veloces, fuertes y, sin duda, los que causaron más estragos en la ciudad. Pero debo comentar que el día de ayer fue que pude ver “Península”, para ver si es cierto lo que decían: que esta no es buena, comparada con su predecesora.
Well, Peninsula is set four years after the events in Busan, and here we can observe how the catastrophic events in the Asian country affected the country and the world. And although it's illogical, the film's disappointment stemmed from the fact that it didn't follow the Busan storyline at all, but only showed events that happened later, without mentioning anything about Soo-ahn, who was practically the reason the ending of Busan emotionally devastated us.
Pues, Península está ambientado a 4 años futuros de los ocurridos en Busan, y aquí podemos observar como afectó al país y el mundo los hechos catastróficos que se generaron en el país asiático. Y aunque es ilógico, el disgusto de esta película se basó en que no seguía para nada la historia de Busan, sino que solo fueron hechos ocurridos posteriormente y sin decir nada de Soo-ahn quien fue prácticamente la razón por la que nos destruyó emocionalmente el final de Busan.
Well, Peninsula mainly follows the story of a group of mercenaries hired to enter one of the affected areas to recover a truck containing $20 million, and the large reward motivates them to risk their lives. Obviously, at the beginning we see the protagonist's life when the virus began to spread, to connect the dots and refresh your memory of how this devastation started.
Bueno, Península sigue principalmente la historias de un grupo de mercenarios que son contratados para entrar a una de las zonas afectadas a recuperar un camión con 20 millones de dólares, y con la gran recompensa que esta lleva son motivados a arriesgar sus vidas. Obviamente, al comienzo vemos la vida del protagonista cuando comenzó a esparcirse el virus, para que se conecte y te refresque la memoria del cómo comenzó este estrago.
While it is not directly related to the previous film, as there are those who still do not know that it has a first animated film that premiered a day before Busan, and explains the beginning of the pandemic even though it is not related to Busan beyond being the origin of the virus.
Si bien no está relacionada con la anterior película directamente, pues hay quienes aún no saben de qué esta cuenta con una primera película animada que se estrenó un día antes de Busan, y explica el comienzo de la pandemia aun cuando esta no está relacionada con Busan más allá de ser el origen del virus.
Obviously, with three distinct films, there's a clear reason why each story concludes with its respective installment, but there are different narratives, from different people, to tell in this zombie world. And while this might lessen any doubts about its quality, it's crucial to acknowledge that Busan is indeed the best, but that doesn't diminish the quality of the others. Each one is interesting in its own way, and at least one of these films will bring a tear to your eye with its tragedies that transcend reality and drama.
Obviamente habiendo tres películas distintas, se puede dar un motivo claro del porqué se cierra cada historia con cada entrega, pero existe diferentes relatos, de diferentes personas que contar en este mundo de Zombis. Y aunque esto reduce las dudas de la aprobación, pues es clave decir que en efecto Busan es mejor, pero no le quita calidad a las otras, pues cada una son interesantes a su manera y al menos una lágrima te hará soltar está con sus tragedias que sobrepasan lo real y el drama.
I watched these on Netflix and Prime Video, since the movies are available separately on different websites and I still haven't been able to find the animated one; maybe someday I'll come back with a separate review for it.
