“How do you want to, you know, be disposed of if or when this job gets the better of us?” Sara picked her arrow off the dog-like abomination’s skull, wiping away the viscera on her slacks.
“Just toss me in the ground, I don’t care,” responded Garrick, kicking in the door to the next room.
“I don’t know. Maybe a coffin? Not anything fancy like one of those luxury coffins the guild’s undertaker has been trying to sell recently. Or maybe I’d give my body to the university, for science and medicine.” Nip pressed a button on her rocket fists, unlocking the mechanisms holding them in place. They propelled themselves out of their housing a few millimetres, releasing steam and hot air as they cooled.
“I don’t think Paula would be happy to hear that, Garrick,” said Sara, placing the cleaned arrow back in her quiver.
“Aye, well we can’t all have what we want I s’pose.”
A growing chorus of growls sounded off further into the room, as four skulking figures slipped out of the darkness into view.
“Heads up, more of those dog things coming in hot!” Garrick slammed his axe into one of the approaching creatures, blasting it into the wall to his left. It released a pained whimper, slowly stumbling back upright and baring its teeth at the hulk.
“We’ll pick this up later. Garrick, on your right!” Sara shot an arrow at the prowling creature, the tip burying itself in its flank.
The group fought off the small horde, wiping the blood and guts off of their clothes through exhausted pants.
