Today's Prompt: Black Sheep

Baaaa, Alfred bleated as the shepherd stepped through the herd. Bending down to take another mouthful of grass, Alfred’s eyes scanned the vicinity for threats, in particular, Jess, the border collie. The shepherd made his way back to the barnhouse, seemingly satisfied with his inspection. Alfred turned to his neighbour, “Phew, I thought he’d have us running from that evil bitch.”

The black sheep beside Alfred lifted his head and met his gaze, “Thank the creator we didn’t have to deal with her today. I don’t think I’d survive the stress.”

“So how are we going to get out of here, James?” Alfred continued munching on the grass below him in an effort to maintain the ruse for any on-looking humans.

“I’ve been keeping track of the farmer’s comings and goings. It seems he leaves every day at 3pm in his metal wheel machine –”

“Big one or the small black one?”

“The small black one. He then comes back around 3:45 with the smaller human girl.” James scanned around, before stepping closer to Alfred, his lips coming close to touching Alfred’s ear. “If we wait by the fence at 3:05 tomorrow, I’ve arranged for one of the horses, Mel, to help open the gate. Then we should be home free.”

“You’re a genius, James.” Alfred lifted his hoof and James followed suit, the pair sharing a quick fist bump before continuing their grazing charade.
