we all have the unique ability to make choices, to choose from a variety of options. Though it is quite sad that today , people have abused that ability of making choices, the ability of making choices is a gift from our loving creator, and as such we show appreciation for gifts by making good use of them, to the ability of making choices we can make good use of that , if we are able to make good and wise choices, though as imperfect humans we are bound to make mistakes ,it’s understandable that at times we make most and that might affect the choices we make.
Well , speaking of myself I have made decisions , and choices both good and bad, ones I admire and ones I learn from, and am about telling you one of those, you. Figure out what category it falls in, good or to be learnt from. Here we go.
As a Nigerian student, getting to Senior secondary class two, or (SS2) as we call them, we have to choose our areas of study, whether we become Science students, or we become Arts students, or we study Social sciences, so this is to help us students focus more on the main subjects in whatever we aspire to become, but this is mostly misunderstood among students, as many of them tend to have the mentality that people who are science inclined are more intelligent or smarter than their arts inclined counterparts, and you see someone who would have made just fine in an arts class move to the science class just because of that mentality, or others move to either science or Arts , just because their friends moved there, So moving to the main point, when I got to the class and it was then our turn to choose, many of my classmates made the right choice from my perspective, there were still those that choose wrongly, I made my choice and went to the science class.
My decision was based on the fact that ,by that time I was already learning computer programming and had hopes to further on that, so my choice I could say was the right one, but as time went on it seemed as if I made the wrong choice as I was having difficulties understanding chemistry, up until this day, and ‘further mathematics ‘ was another problem I faced ,but I never imagined switching classes, I had to find a way to get around it, so I had to ,level up the amount of time I spent on each of them, and the results then was encouraging, though I still had lots of difficulties on both of them, but I was able to cope, and fortunate enough I never failed any of their tests or exams,
Currently I am in The Senior secondary class three ( SS3) and , I don’t regret making the choice of being a science student, though I at first felt the urge to move to arts as my best friend then moved to art, but making the choice for myself has proved worthwhile for me , and I enjoy every day of class in school, as I don’t have to struggle anymore to understand what is being taught.
This experience taught me some crucial lessons , one being that I should not follow the crowd rather I should do things based on my passions and as my circumstances permit, second being that I should not quit when the going gets tough, rather I should get tough to get going,
So tell me , do you think that there’s more to be learnt from this experience on making choices?
