The Philippine National Railways, still operating in these recent times since 1892.
According to its history, the idea of putting up a railroad started in 1875 and a plan was presented just after a year. In 1883, a study for the 1st railroad project was approved and the construction of the Manila to Dagupan railroad started in 1887. The entire railroad from Manila to Dagupan was completed in 1892 and started its commercial operations.
I had my first memorable train ride when I was 10 years old. It was a long ride, from Tutuban to Naga city. Curerntly the *Bicol Express" line was closed due to the damaged it got from various strong typhoons. I hope that it will be operational/open again cause it will be the easiest way to reach Naga in Bicol compared to riding a bus in my own opinion.
I am still enjoying the benefits of having the PNR train operational in the city, its Alabang to Tutuban line. The train had limited schedules towards and from Laguna. During weekdays, expect fully loaded train carts especially on rush hours since a lot are still relying on this train ride. There were weekends that are full of commuters as well just like this holiday season. Not just cheaper fares but also because of no traffic on the railroad. There will be long lines too in buying the tickets so, patience
is really necessary. 馃槉
In Tutuban station, there are photos on display. These are old photos of the trains that were used before. It was like showing the history and evolution of the train wagons used. There is an actual wagon too that was displayed in the said station as shown in the photos below.
There were charts and information that were displayed as well to make the commuters aware of it.
All photos were taken using my mobile phone.
