Cryptopocalypse? Dream Opportunity? BTC, Hive and Listnerds?
Right, let's talk about this red sea market and what I think about it. Of course a lot of people are talking about it, some people will know better than I, savvy traders, clever coders, and whales with the capability to slap a coin up or down at a whim, or a calculated move intended to gain the upper hand in a market.
I am not talking about whales on Hive specifically. I mean this is the general habit in any market, be it crypto or wallstreet or property.
You play the market at whatever level you are at. I am not here to speculate on the movements of the whales right now. I am not an expert with (much) insider information. I do know a guy who managed to turn a couple thousand into a couple hundred thousand and who manages a portfolio of a couple million dollars.
This man and I had a conversation out of the blue and all he had to talk about was about his moves on the NEXT bullrun. He never even spoke about the red in the market. To him, it is just a condition that is in the market right now. There is no doubt in his mind about whether or not there will be another bullrun and the market.
But what do I think?
Everyone is on crypto, in a general sense, to make some money. Extra money or making a living or investing their savings. There are a lot of different takes on crypto, including not touching it at all.
To me, the concept and the platforms that are decentralized are here to stay. As an independent human with my own thoughts, I have to consider what to do with my money and time that is worthwhile.
Let's deal with each case on its own.
BTC - Bitcoin
This is the big one, the one affecting everything else.
Bitcoin is in the news and in the tweets and making waves. Most other crypto has sympathetic trends connected to Bitcoin. I do not own any Bitcoin, but I will probably put some loose change in there when it dips to low amounts.
Everyone sits with all the same advice here: Don't throw money into Bitcoin unless you can afford to lose the money.
But this is nonsense!
Nobody can AFFORD to lose money. Nobody WANTS to lose money.
Most of us dream about making big amounts of money on crypto and being able to pay off the bond (or even afford to buy a house), or retire or whatever their financial dreams are.
People need to be careful here. Most people and I dare say, a massive amount of Bitcoin buyers have no idea how a market works and when they buy Bitcoin and it loses value they think of it as losing money.
Friends, you only lose money on BTC or any other cryptocurrency or token if you sell it at a loss! It is that simple.
If you buy now, it is not a case of being 'able' to lose that money or 'affording' to be able to lose that money. Instead, it is rather a case of being able to store that value in Bitcoin (or other crypto) for a long term.
If you treat it as a "expense" in your monthly budget while it really is an "asset" then you will win! Take a consumable item in your budget, like cigarettes, pepsi or tomato sauce. You use it, you don't get it back. Most people need those items because they want it. They don't really need it, but they would prefer to have it so they include a portion of their budget for the purchase of this item.
If you put a small amount of your budget money into a buy and forget condition every week for 52 weeks then after one year you have purchased BTC or any other of these Cryptocurrencies at a dollar-cost-average price for that entire year.
It was an "expense" but after 52 weeks, it now has a trade value. You cannot buy a house, a stock or a car with the same tactic. It is far better than sticking money into a jar since it is easy to scratch around in there to buy... a loose cigarette or similar!
What has this got to do with the sea of red out there?
Simple: Opportunity and rallying support.
From Google.
What is often overlooked is that every time the market moves UP or DOWN, that there is a SALE. Someone had an offer to buy Bitcoin at a lower price than the current price and when that sale is put through becuase someone wanted to instantly sell their BTC, then the value on the market drops.
If I had $100,000 I wanted to buy Bitcoin with, I would also withdraw my offers to buy and re-list them lower down on a bear market. I would probably even stagger them at $10,000 lots going down and dollar-average my sale in case there is an upturn in the market. The moment all $100,000 is gone through on sales and I have a certain amount of BTC, it is LIKELY for the value displayed on the exchanges to indicate that I now have $95,000 worth of BTC and this amount will go down the longer the bear market lasts.
How long? That really depends on the real bears holding or selling out, till there is no more sales going through at low prices.
6 months is short term.
5 years however, looks far better. Look at the timestamp at 15 December 20217. Looks like hills and valleys and then a sharp drop off and a 3 YEAR period of things looking grim... compared to the highs of the day.
It also looks STABLE to me.
This is important.
Therefore, at some point there will a lack of people willing to sell BTC at ever-lower prices and there will be price stability.
Price stability needs to be maintained long enough for there to be a general upswing in the market. It has done this before. So it ever was, so it shall ever be.
Hive is different!
"What are you talking about Zak?" You might ask. "Just look at the last 6 months of Hive!
Data from www.coingecko.com
And I will do one better for you with some image wizardry!
Here is a 6 month trend from the same website (coingecko) of BTC/USD and HIVE/USD prices. Notice how the peaks and valleys go up and down more or less at the same times?
Not identical and that is what some of the real crypto experts would call arbitrage and all that. The point is, however, is that these graphs are similar.
Let's go back to my opening statement: Hive is different!
Why? Becuase Hive has HP, the staked form of Hive that allows you to increase your Vote value on all the Hive blogging platforms! Your ability to curate content and interact with people allows you to do what I am doing right now...
Based on your response, you choose to upvote this post. You don't owe me a vote, the whales and the curators do not OWE me a vote! However, should someone enjoy the information provided and my perspective provided, they may give me their upvotes and they will be earning their curation based on that as well.
How different indeed! Hive allows us to interact and earn off the posts and attention given to those posts. Growth for both the poster and the reader.
While BTC is doing their bear run, we can build! (Thanks Jongo! 馃槈)
Other Hive tokens!
Hive is full of secondary level tokens. Stake, earn, trade and swap - all done on the Hive blockchain without having to touch fiat or Bitcoin.
Games, apps and communities that allow you to earn in a massive amount of different ways!
From Hive Engine
Before you go cashing out on your crypto, consider that within the economics of all these platforms that you can put your value to work! Some of these assets earn you more assets! In the long run, you can consider growing instead of just holding and waiting.
That is really something we all need to do while we wait from the bear market to end, something to do. As long as you are growing your portfolio on Hive, you are growing in the future.
Final thoughts - Listnerds
A bit more than a week ago I joined the Enterprise crew on Listnerds. The amount of Listnerds (LN) that can be earned on Enterprise is massively different, please contact me should you be interested in this.
One thing that makes a lot of people wonder about Listnerds is the sustainability of the platform. They worry that the token is not going to hold its value for long. Hello, all tokens and crypto is selling out right now because people are running out of crypto or trying to recover funds.
But I am not here to compare Listnerds to the current market. More to the point, looking at the Listnerds that have been accumulated and I ask the Listnerds holders, what are you willing to sell your Listnerds for?
Even after the bear, on the bull, none of it matters. The holders determine the value. Will you throw it out for change or will you maintain that an LN is worth an Hive or more?
It is up to the holders.
For those who want me to show them how and join me on Listnerds let me tell you like this: It costs $97 to get enterprise. That's for a month. In 2 weeks, at HALF the current price on Hive Engine, I am at 4.7x ROI.
I had such a busy week. I am quite convinced that I could be even MORE active and earn even better rewards!
This is phenominal.
Oh... there is a 10 week unstaking waiting time. This I have worked on already. That is why I look at HALF the current price. I can't exactly lose on all the odds.
I have my fingers in many pies and by being busy in many places in Hive, I make myself well secure. Using assets here to buy assets there and THAT is the power of Hive, Splinterlands, Listnerds and all the communities I post into!
Let's see what the NEXT 6 months holds! I am excited!
