If a person reaches 101 years of age, it is difficult for him to maintain the same physical abilities of his youth. Not so with radio, the most massive broadcasting medium that exists, according to communication theories. In #Cuba, this August 22, radio broadcasting turned 101 years old, but in the world, it is a longer-lived medium. Its creation is attributed to several engineers, I will not make much emphasis on it, but congratulations for their discoveries! When it emerged, it was like Archimedes of Syracuse's Eureka! A bit rudimentary at the beginning, but like all inventions, it was revolutionized until today.
I am talking to you, my friend reader, about what we do in the Big Island of the Caribbean, which is very different from the ones that nowadays surf the world, even on digital platforms. Cuba felt the radio energy on August 22, 1922. In various sources visible on the Internet, there is talk of 2LC as the first station, which began its transmissions with the 9 p.m. cannon shot, with very diverse spaces that offered music, the weather and the time. Its name (2LC) was due to the initials of its director and owner Luis Casas Rodríguez.

101 years have passed, and of those lustrums, I have been in the radio, directly linked to it, for 18 years. Since I was a child, I used to come home and my stepfather practically "forced" us all to listen to his radio adventure "La Flecha de Cobre", because the volume of the radio was high. I confess that I began to hate the radio because at my 8 years of age it was something that I did not understand, and what I perceived was a subjective noise of incomprehensible plots and sounds, but I did notice the preference it had on the neighbors. Then I learned that I was a listener of something so great that today people talk about it with great fervor in western Cuba.
When I was a teenager I was given a small battery-operated radio and as a new toy I started to listen to the radio, since I didn't have a television. When a song came on, I took out the batteries so as not to waste them until I could calculate the time the announcer was speaking, which was what I liked. I had my energy saving strategies! Those voices were attracting me and I began to put "my faces" to the announcers' timbres, a big mistake on my part because when I saw them physically, everything changed.

I knew that a program director lived near my house and I dared to approach him, so that I sent letters to his programs, greeting my family and friends. The first time I heard my name mentioned on the radio, when I read the letter, I can't explain the emotion I felt. That got me forever. I was the listener of a program and far from imagining that today I am its announcer. The twists and turns that one makes life take.
You have to put heart, energy and good vibes into your dreams to make them come true. We can't just sit around with our hands folded waiting for miracles. Little by little I got closer to a medium that trapped me forever. I would give up everything for it and bringing these ideas to Hive has been a source of great pride for me. When I traveled to Spain, I visited a radio station which I told you about in my first posts, but in that one I did not find the Cuban flavor: the interaction with the listeners and the dramatized plays, which is part of the heritage of our Cuban culture.
@nanixxx.
