Hello dear friends!

In these days where we have spent most of our time at home, we have felt the need to be calm, carefree, relaxed mainly because of the situation we are going through worldwide. The news, the messages are more alarming every day and sometimes it is impossible not to stress and worry which is not good for our health.

One way to disconnect is to be in contact with nature, it gives us calm and a sense of tranquility unmatched. I particularly choose to go out to the patio of my house and sit down to contemplate the sky, watch the birds, listen to their singing, dedicate myself to take care of the plants in my garden. It is at these times that we reflect on how important it is to engage in activities that help us to disconnect and share, such as a walk to the beach, the countryside or the mountains.

We have always heard the benefits that nature offers on health, from the use of natural plants, as in being in contact with her and there are several scientific studies that have addressed this issue. Several studies have shown that listening to natural sounds such as water running through the river, rain, birds singing, the waves of the beaches reduce pain and stress, help to improve mood, increase cognitive performance, there are people who to perform their daily activities such as work and study use an environment with relaxing sounds to achieve concentration.

The tests were based on measuring the impact of sounds on some of the body's responses such as blood pressure, heart rate, the level of stress hormones, and thus measuring the level of relaxation when listening to a natural sound.

The results have shown that its benefits are based on the fact that natural sounds give us a sense of security, the brain processes it as a place where there are no threats and that we are in a safe place, that nothing bad will happen to us while noisy sounds suggest a sense of disturbance and danger and that is where we begin to feel stress, we become distressed, our mood is affected and we become alert for survival, adopting a fighting behavior and wanting to escape from there. That is why, sounds such as traffic, machinery, make us stay away

Something important that we must take into account is that every time we have the opportunity to enjoy any natural environment we should not miss the opportunity, do not look for excuses not to go and enjoy its benefits, to take care of them and protect them, since this can help us to maintain our physical and mental health. Many people choose to listen to recordings of natural sounds that can be found on youtube for example, of course the experience will not be the same but they are strategies to be calm and relaxed.
