There was no direct route, but I had to take several buses to get to work and I returned when it was dark. So, full of fear, but hopeful that something better would come, I quit.

Tomorrow I will have the opportunity for a new job very close to my home, so close that I could walk there and back easily.

So, in an attempt to make a good first impression, I did what almost all girls do in situations like this: take care of the details of our physical appearance.

I got to work and prepared to buy some hair dye. This was the one.

The truth is that I couldn't find the light wine red that I normally go for and since the other options were very light, almost copper blonde, I opted for a dark wine red and crossed my fingers that it wouldn't be too dark.

Here I share the process:

About 45 minutes after applying the dye, I rinse with plenty of water, apply shampoo twice, then the treatment cream that comes with the dye itself, which I let work for about three minutes.

I rinse again and this time I already apply the conditioner. I massage my scalp with my fingertips and leave it on for a few minutes. Then I rinse. And that's it!

I don't like ironing my hair, because the iron leaves my hair brittle, I prefer to let it air out for a few minutes and then I put on a tourniquet or coquito, headscarf and many hours later: voilà!

Encontrar trabajo en un país que no es el tuyo, donde el idioma es diferente al tuyo, es una batalla que, una vez alcanzada la victoria, intentas atesorar cuanto puedas. Sin embargo, no siempre se tiene éxito.

Mi último trabajo fue en una imprenta de papel. Amaba trabajar allí, mi relación laboral con mis compañeros era maravillosa, sin embargo, me quedaba demasiado lejos de casa. Era aquel un lugar sumamente apartado, sin casas alrededor y llegar hasta allí resultaba un poco peligroso. No existía una ruta directa, sino que debía tomar varias busetas para llegar a mi trabajo y regresaba cuando ya oscurecía. Así que, llena de temor, pero esperanzada en que algo mejor llegaría, renuncié.

Lo cierto es que no encontré el rojo vino claro que normalmente me doy y como las otras opciones eran muy claras, casi rubio cobrizo, me decanté por un rojo vino oscuro y crucé los dedos para que no me quedara demasiado oscuro.

Aquí les comparto el proceso:

En esos dos pomitos viene, por separado, el tinte y el peróxido.

En este folleto, donde te explican en inglés y en español el modo de preparación y aplicación del tinte, también vienen dos guantes pegados al papel, muy fácil de despegar, para que no nos manchemos las manos.

Primeramente, pongo el tinte, luego el peróxido y mezclo bien hasta que se oscurezca.

Ahora viene el paso más importante: correr a casa de mi hermana para que me aplique el tinte, pues cuando me lo aplico yo sola, termino llena de pintas rojas por toda la cara, la espalda y los brazos.

Unos 45 minutos después de haberme puesto el tinte enjuago con abundante agua, me aplico shampoo dos veces, luego la crema de tratamiento que trae el propio tinte la cual dejo trabajar por unos tres minutos.

Vuelvo a enjuagar y esta vez ya aplico el acondicionador. Masajeo mi cuero cabelludo con la yema de los dedos y lo dejo aplicado por algunos minutos. Luego enjuago. ¡Y listo!

No me gusta plancharme el pelo, pues la plancha me deja el pelo quebradizo, prefiero dejar que se oree unos minutos y luego me monto un torniquete o coquito, pañuelo a la cabeza y muchas horas después: ¡voilà!

También me hice pediquiur y maniquiur, yo solita.

Preparé luego algo de té verde para relajarme y mientras elegía la ropa que usaré mañana, puse a reproducir la canción La Tetera del Mar interpretada por Camila Merchant, porque algo de aventura y alegría despierta en mí ese tema musical.
