English:

A big greeting to all friends in this incredible Community of ladies. Today I join LOH Contest #313, thanking the sponsors of this space for their support and the lady priyanarc@priyanarc, who has brought this week's questions. I invite everyone who wants to join and participate, always reminding them to follow the simple contest rules.

Question 1️⃣:
Do you think society expects women to be strong all the time, even when they need support?

This question led me to think a lot and reflect on our current society and its vision of women's performance. In my beloved Cuba, and in society in general, women have been dressed in a "superhero" suit. Women are expected to be strong always: to endure childbirth, raising children, scarcity, the role of wife, mother, worker and, in my case, pastor. It seems we have an invisible sign that says: "You cannot break."

As a Cuban mother and homemaker, I have lived it firsthand. I have been with a high fever, with my stomach tight with worry, but there I go: cooking, caring for the children, taking care of the house; although I do thank God because my husband and children have supported me in those moments when I have not felt well and have not had the strength for daily tasks. Sometimes society demands that we be firm in everything we have to do, even when inside we are trembling and feeling fragile.

But let me tell you something: women also need support. We are not made of iron. And it is very good to have a family and close people who understand this and can offer that support. However, for some who do not have that blessing, it seems the world sometimes expects them to go on as if nothing were happening, even if they don't feel well. A strong woman is not the one who never cries, but the one who, even while crying, allows herself to be held by others and fundamentally by God.

Question 2️⃣:
Can a woman be happy with her life even if it doesn't look the way she once imagined?

Of course she can! In my life I had not imagined following the course I now follow. During school I took courses in music, dance, even firefighting, hahaha, but life, that implacable teacher, took me down other paths. I got married, had my three children, left things behind and, suddenly, my plan changed: I ended up being a homemaker, mother and pastor.

In the end I learned along the way that happiness does not depend on all your plans being fulfilled, but on finding purpose in the path God traced for you. In my case, pastoral ministry and being a mother and wife have given me a happiness I never imagined in my youthful plans.

Today, although my life is not the one I drew in a notebook, I am happy. I am happy when I see my children grow, when I can comfort a sister in faith, when my husband supports me and reminds me that I am not alone. I won't lie: sometimes frustration knocks at the door, but it doesn't stay to live with me. I learned to look at what I can achieve and to thank God for the daily reasons to smile.
