When spring arrives, how do we feel? In my beautiful Venezuela, there are only two seasons: winter and summer. In winter, there’s a lot of rain, and I like it because everything looks green—especially the mountains—unlike in summer, when everything looks brown because of the intense drought and the relentless sun that surrounds us. But that sun and that heat are characteristic of certain states in Venezuela, since most of us Venezuelans come from warm regions.
Spring doesn’t exist here, but during that time of year when the rain is winding down and summer begins, we can see beautiful flowers in many colors. One of the most beautiful sights is the colorful apamates—I love the pink and white ones, which look a little like cherry blossoms—and our national tree, the Araguaney, which paints many parts of the country yellow and can be seen everywhere, making it seem as if it were spring.
In our lives, we might feel as though it’s spring when we’re truly happy and everything is going well—when we achieve the goals we’ve set for ourselves, when we radiate happiness. That’s what makes our lives burst with different colors, and we can see the beauty of those trees in our lives. We all go through different seasons in our lives, but spring is that time we look forward to so much and don’t want to see end.
The flowers in my life in spring look just like cherry blossoms, apamates, and araguaney—a life painted in colors, a life full of harmony where the wind blows a breath of freshness. For me, life in spring is the most beautiful, and if I’ve experienced that spring many times, God has undoubtedly been so good to me, and I’m grateful for every ray of sunshine that makes some part of my life bloom.
I can’t even imagine what the spring festival would be like—so full of bright colors, lights everywhere, colorful drinks, fluorescent bracelets, lights that glow in the dark, and music that enchants everyone’s ears. That’s what spring is like; we all love it, and it’s impossible to resist its charms. In fact, we’d love to live a life full of spring.
