We ended up visiting the beach in Puerto Cabello—we decided to take a walk to break out of our daily routine and take a dip in the ocean to recharge our batteries for the day-to-day. We thought our day had been ruined because early in the morning it looked like it was going to rain and it was really cold; however, everything turned out differently after 11 a.m. when the sun came out.
Since it’s August, there are quite a few people on vacation and enjoying the beach, which was absolutely delightful. The water was warm—perfect for spending the whole day there—but the waves were terrible, really big. It was the first time I’d seen this beach so rough; the waves were high and strong, and they ended up sweeping many people away. I mostly stayed near the shore—I didn’t want the waves to sweep me away.
I really like this beach because it has several different areas to enjoy, from volleyball and soccer courts to spaces for beach umbrellas at various price points—ranging from $15 to $60, depending on where you want to be—as well as areas with barbecue grills where you can spend quality time with friends and family, and where you can park your car right next to your spot.
Something surprised me that day: there was a section of the beach where they weren’t renting out beach umbrellas. Well, there were more than 40 umbrellas in that area, and swimming was also prohibited there—plus, the waves were very high in that spot. Maybe that’s why they weren’t renting them out.
Of course, there are local vendors selling “Vuelve a la Vida” items, necklaces, tattoos, and more, who stop by every so often to offer their wares. There are also hotels and restaurants right on the beach where you can enjoy delicious seafood and fish, among other things—there’s nothing quite like seafood when you’re at the beach.
We spent some relaxing time with the family—a chance to disconnect from the world and enjoy a sunny, cool day, breathing in the fresh beach air. It’s so wonderful to enjoy nature, which does us so much good. With so many things happening in the world that worry us day after day, it’s good to take our minds off things, put our cell phones away for a while, and enjoy the people we love and nature.
