After I became a yoga instructor I became deeply interested in Ayurveda, yoga philosophy and Hinduism. I love the fact that they look at the body as a whole as supposed to here in the West, where we like to isolate everything and only focus on what we can see with the naked eye.
Take for example a common problem such as constipation. You go to the doctor and they focus only on your digestive system, they give you some laxatives and they tick you off as treated. But you've only treated the symptom, not the actual issue. What caused the constipation? It could be stress, food, lack of exercise or a combination of several things.
Chakras are subtle energy centres in our body, located along our spine. They all affect different parts and processes in our body and if unbalanced can manifest as physical diseases or pains. They vibrate in different frequencies and therefore all have different colours.
The state of our chakras manifests in our behaviour as well as our bodies, so you can tell a lot about your mental state by observing your physical body. All the chakras have various asanas that will help them relax, keep them open and create balance.
Have you ever heard about chakras before?
Currently I am doing something I call #chakraweeks on my instagram account @yogawithtone where you can learn more about the chakras as I go into them in detail.
Love,
Tone
