Looks that Speak: Beyond What the Eyes See Miradas que Hablan: Más Allá de lo que los Ojos Ven
Hola, amigos. ¡Feliz martes de encuentro de talentos! Sean bienvenidos a mi blog.
Hello friends, Happy Gathering of Talents Tuesday! Welcome to my blog. I'm Yeli Marín and today I'm joining this week's initiative, where we'll talk about looks, those that don't lie and that make us see different realities.
When we talk about looks, we have always heard that they are the reflection of the soul, and this is very true. I have been able to meet many people through their looks, knowing who they really are, beyond an appearance, beyond what can be said.
Through the look, energy is reflected, that which we call good or bad vibes. It is something that is perceived, that is felt; that's how it works with looks, it is something difficult to hide. With our gaze we transmit different emotions, from fear, sadness, excitement and even anger. All these emotions are reflected through the look.
I have learned with the passage of time, from successes and failures, to look at myself differently, to speak more beautifully to myself and to value what I see in the mirror every day. I have had internal struggles, but the way I see and speak to myself has allowed me to live in harmony with who I am and my desires.
The Danger of External Perceptions
Many times we stop seeing ourselves as we really are by allowing ourselves to be affected by other people's comments, where we reach a point where we believe the best solution is to cease to exist. I recently heard of a case here in my city, of a girl who took her own life because she saw herself as different from the rest and felt that she did not belong anywhere.
This is where spiritual struggle plays a big role. She, barely 17 years old, was blonde, like those we call albino, unlike her family, all of whom were colored. She was affectionately called “polar”. This, since she was a child, made her feel as if she was condemned, as if she did not fit in anywhere: neither in her family, nor in her high school, nor in her community.
So she hated every day what she saw in the mirror. She began to feel like she was not a part of anything, and even though her friends at school loved her and treated her well, there was always someone who would make a bad comment about her hair and skin color. These comments made her feel lesser and she began to live in an incorrect reality, where she felt she was the problem.
The issue of her skin color made her feel that she was not her parents' child and that she was just an outsider. She began to withdraw from everyone and one day, in tears, she wrote a letter and ended her humanity, leaving deep pain to those who loved her.
The Transformation of Self-Perception
She changed the way she saw herself and here everything took another path. I understood that we are not always going to fit into a group, a class or even our family, and that's okay. That doesn't define who we are. I've gone through many stages in my life where I haven't liked what I see, but that doesn't stop me from being me.
So I learned to see myself more beautiful, to value each achievement, no matter how small it may be, because only I know how much it has cost me. I am a brave and hardworking woman, and I see it, I feel it and I value it. And even if suddenly everything turns gray, I will always, with my will, my enthusiasm and my hope, put the most beautiful colors of the rainbow, because even if it does not seem so, there will always be a reason to smile.
