Hello, hello, good morning to all you coffee lovers out there. That’s how we’re kicking off this weekend—with a strong cup of coffee to wake us up and clear our minds. Personally, I have a favorite brand that I love because its flavor is intense and delicious; I’ve got the perfect technique down with my precise measurements in my cute coffee maker, and it always turns out great. When I woke up today, that was the first thing I did: brew the coffee, breathe in that aroma filling the kitchen, and mentally prepare myself that today had to be the day to organize all the things I’ve been putting off. I’m not going to lie to you—it’s been hard to get started because lately I feel like I’m constantly sleepy in the mornings.
My biological clock is completely out of whack. Late at night, I lose all sleep, and then in the morning I feel so heavy that I end up falling asleep and even having deep dreams. I’ve been trying to get back into various activities, like posting here more consistently. And it’s not for lack of ideas—I have plenty of things to talk about—but because I haven’t been able to fully concentrate. My mind goes blank when I try to tackle too many things at once, and I end up not making much progress on my to-do list, which, to be honest, is already quite long.
A Turkish series I discovered is largely to blame for this nighttime imbalance. I saw tons of good reviews online, got curious, and now I’m already on episode 93—how dangerous! It has a little bit of everything: a touch of drama with action, intrigue, and suspense, and I admit it keeps me super entertained. My routine has become making a full pot of coffee, pouring myself a nice big cup, and sitting down to watch the show. I sip my cup little by little, savoring the moment, and before I know it, it’s already gone. A little while later, I head to the kitchen for another cup, and of course, later that night I pay the price and can’t sleep because of the caffeine, hahaha.
I’m making a conscious effort to get organized and catch up on all my pending tasks, but so far I haven’t quite managed it; I’m a bit distracted, and I admit that my phone doesn’t help much with staying focused either. On the other hand, I started a new project on social media, and that makes me really happy. I took that big step I had such a hard time taking—I dared to do it—and honestly, it’s going really well for me; every day I’m improving and gaining more confidence, though the pain in my leg sometimes works against me and brings my spirits down a bit.
I recently started some physical therapy sessions. I was actually improving a lot, but in the last few sessions, the intensity of the exercises we did was higher. That caused the nerve in my leg that was already irritated to get hurt again, and in a way, I feel like I’ve injured myself more than I should have. For that reason, I chose not to go these past two days, giving myself some time for the area to go down a bit so I can get back to it full force on Monday.
However, even though my body is telling me to rest, my mind won’t stop, and I have to work on several of my kids’ school projects. They’re about to finish their school year soon. One is graduating from high school, which has me planning several important activities for his graduation, and my other son also has his own commitments that require my planning. Project deadlines, presentations, cultural activities, and other school matters are piling up, all on top of keeping up with therapy sessions, household chores, and a long list of other tasks.
That’s why, at the end of the day, I look for any escape to distract myself, and I’ve ended up putting off very important things, like finishing the revisions on my thesis, writing for my blog, or recording my TikTok videos. But I’ve decided that, to avoid overwhelming myself, I’m going to do as much as I can, at the pace my body allows. Since I’ve been stuck at home for so long resting my leg, my coffee runs out twice as fast, but it doesn’t matter; at the end of the day, my favorite reward will always be and will continue to be a cup of delicious hot coffee to treat myself. Happy weekend, everyone!
